BIG thanks to CajunBass on here for taking the time to talk with me privately and give me the encouraging words to get me to finally check out our local indoor range.
Been shooting since I was a kid but it was all done on family or friends farms. Currently it's not been regularly enough for me. So...
Took my old man with me today and we had a great time. There were two RSO's that were actively correcting folks where needed. That was great. It did take a bit for me to settle into the environment but by the end of our one hour I was comfortable enough to easily go another hour.
I did see one thing about half way through that gave me flashbacks of that story in the news a few weeks ago where a dad shot his son because a piece of brass went down his shirt. A father and son were shooting a pistol a few lanes down to our left and I observed the father shooting when a piece of brass went down the back of his shirt. He went to grab for it with his hand with the gun in it but caught himself at the point where his gun was pointed at the ceiling and immediately got the gun pointed back down range. It was a little unnerving to watch but ended up ok.
Anyways, thanks again CajunBass! I will definitely be getting a membership very soon.
Just thought I would share my experience from a skeptical persons first time "formal" range visit.
