Florida Boys: Did the St. Marks Powder Plant suffer any damage from Michael?

Patocazador...glad your daughter is safe.

Thanks nevada bob. She is fine and they even got electricity back on this morning.
Last year Hurricane Irma's eye hit our house and knocked out power for 10 days. But this is an election year so the fat-cat politicians do all they can to keep votes including riding the power companies bigwigs.

I live north of Tallahassee; we got lucky. LOTS of downed trees and power lines, but thankfully, not too ,much structural house damage. The folks closer to the coast are screwed for months, maybe longer. My wife's co-op is hoping to get 50% back online by the end of the next week with 100% back online within a month or two..........and their territory isn't anything like Apalachicola, Mexico Beach, Panama City Beach or SW GA.

Boy I feel for them. They got a hard hit.
I'm glad St Marks is ok, we don't need another powder shortage frenzy. Things have been good for a while.

The St. Mark's Powder Co. is not in the town of St. Marks. It is on Hwy 98 about 5+ miles or so from the town and Gulf. There are a lot of trees in between as a buffer from the winds. The storm surge went up the St. Marks and Wakulla rivers so the plant is almost assuredly OK.
I just talked to my daughter and she hadn't been by there since the storm but said she heard nothing about damage to the plant. My SIL applied to work there a couple of years ago. If he had been hired, that probably would have resulted in plant damage by now. ;)

Hwy 98 is/was a great scenic drive to go from there towards Apalachicola; it travels within yards of the water in spots - which makes it vulnerable to situations like these. I am surprised (buy glad!) to hear GD's plant didn't get hit they way the areas right near the water did.

And you can go through Carrabelle (if it's still there after Michael) and see what was the country's smallest police station.

We always stayed in Carrabelle at the motel when attending the Apalachicola Seafood festival (I'm thinking this year's, scheduled for about 2 weeks from now, ain't happening)
That little diner next door served an awesome breakfast for an unbelievable price; $4 bucks OTD got you a couple of eggs, ham or bacon, grits or toast, juice or coffee.
