You mean the FNP 9 - right? I don't own one, but I've shot one and it was okay. I finally got lucky, and I won one in a drawing. I didn't want it. I wanted the Five-Seven, and traded the FNP-9 for it.
I think the FNP-9 used to be called the Browning Pro or something like that. I looked at one a few years ago and wasn't impressed with it.
The FNP-9 may be a fine gun, but it isn't something I want. I know this isn't much information for you, but as I type this, you haven't received any other replies so here is my 2 cents.
I have an FNP-9 and I think it's a good gun for the price I got ($360). I've only shot about 100 rounds so far but reliable and shoots great. You can find it at CDNN for $389 for the all black model in smaller version- FNP-9m. I also have a Beretta PX4 and I think the recoil is comparable (ie. not much recoil).
I have a FNP-9 that had some problems with the plastic fire control group cracking before I ever fired a single round. Since I received it back from FN and have shot at least 1K through the pistol it has been excellent. 100% reliable and accurate. It is now one of my favorite pistols.
Have one (my only 'poly'), it's a real good gun... 'big-gun' feel, very accurate, trigger-pull like a Sig, flawless (1000+rnds, ZERO problems), made very well, tear-down/cleanup very easy... bvmd said they're available for under $400 at CDNN (that's a real good price)... go for it! If you like the looks and it feels right in your hand, you won't go wrong!!
I suggest you handle one or better still fire one, if you can. I've been on the fence with this as well. The grip is a little large, blockish and smooth. I prefer a grip that fits the hand better. It is closer to the feel of a Ruger P95 than a S&W M&P. There were early problems with the trigger assemblies locking up and cracking but it sounds like FN has been good about getting those fixed or replaced.
Here is an FN forum website where you can get lots of feedback from owners.
1. Trigger group tilt causing high efforts and cracks.
2. Takedown lever bouncing into slide...marring it.
3. Follower wear causing slide lock and mag release issue.
If you want crazy reliable action, you'll not be disappointed with the FNP-9. I have one and it has never given me one single . I refer to it as the "AK-47 of pistols" in that failures would be an odd occurance at best. Accurate, feels good, points well, three 16 round magazines, very controllable, . . . . about the easiest tear down for cleaning you'll ever find. Lock the slide back, move a leaver 1/4 turn clockwise, release slide, slide comes off.
I want one but knowing my luck it will be one that has problems. Maybe I will wait awhile to let them wring the problems out. Other than that they look like a good gun.
