FN Hershtal marketing FN 5.7x28mm pistol in the US (but you can't have one serf)

Fed168 tells me that the FN 5.7x28mm SS190 round (a 31 grain bullet at around 2300fps, IIRC) demonsrated good wounding capabilities. Let's assume that what he saw is typical of the performance of the SS190 round. Assuming no silly legailities stood in the way, how many of you would use the Five Seven or a similarly chambered pistol as your primary carry weapon? What if JHP ammo was available?

I'd imagine that with it's low recoil and 20 round magazine, the small/light/fast/high-cap crowd would be all over it...

Mind control properties.

That's engineered right into the matte black finish. I've held them several times but I've never felt the urge to commit a crime while doing so. Maybe the mind control energy wears off when you clean the gun too many times...

Here's some pics if anyone is interested.

If no silly legalities stood in the way and someone built a P32 sized mousegun chambered in 5.7mm you can bet there would be one in my pocket (especially if you could get JHPs).

I also think that if FN was smart they would build a civilian .22lr version of the FiveseveN (maybe call it the TwotwO). Lots of people would love to have a tactical looking .22 for plinking with (why do you think the P22 sells so well). If the AWB dies then I would love to have a 20 round .22 plinking pistol.

My understanding is that when an officer or department purchases a sidearm, they are not assessed the taxes that a member of the general public would pay when purchasing. QED it's more than FN just being catty about who gets the firearm.

Ben, not quite right. If the Dept is purchasing they don't pay tax. If the Officer is purchasing he may get a break on the price of the firearm, but still pays the tax.

Why does it look like the action is so far forward?

It would be a cool competition piece with the stock 20 round mags.
