For those bashing California gun owners, they lead the nation in progun money raised

CA gun owners can stew in their own juices. You say, "Don't blame us, we didn't vote for those people". No, but you support them by staying there and paying taxes. If your vote can't count at the ballot box, then vote with your feet.

And don't give me any of that "I can't leave" crap. I packed up my family and moved them to Free America.

I got caught as a recent college graduate with student loans and no family to support me in a tough situation. Go to DC, CA, or hope I can find a good paying job in the gun friendly state I lived in (I was only eating once a day, running out of money fast, and had originally come from another terrible state). I went to CA because I thought the job looked better on my resume and could increase the likelihood of getting a job in a place I would like after a year.

Every time I met someone here that didn't like the CA laws, I asked them why they stayed here. They always said something like the beach is 5 miles away, there's some really gnarly mountains you can climb, it snows in those other places, it gets hot in those other places, [more excuses]... Then I would ask them how often they were able to enjoy any of those things. The answer was usually working or stuck in traffic.

The year is almost up. In the meantime, I've made no friends, not dated anyone, obtained more certifications, volunteered for projects that might help qualify me to work in industries that have a presence in gun friendly states, lived in a terrible neighborhood to save on rent, and refused to drive to save money.

Because everything is so expensive here, you have to make sacrifices like this to get out. Most people aren't willing to and I don't feel sorry for them.

Exactly. I won't hold anyone's personal decisions against them, either. Family, food, and shelter are obviously more important than one guy's guns. But I won't pretend their situation is advantageous or even productive for us on that issue, seeing as they themselves admit they are unable to devote their resources toward it. Kind of like the honest, church-going piano player who works at the brothel and never touches the ladies. He's just a guy doing a job, but that job isn't to put a stop to business.

Fascinating. A sibling of mine worked in CA for several summers, and mentioned that a large number of people he met had false perceptions of their Californian Paradise, precisely as you describe. I found similar stuff out in the Midwest (Cincinnati) wherein nearly everybody was bound and determined to have a house with a "white picket fence" (those exact words; really eerie) whatever cost/debt it took --this was back in '07 when all the subprime stuff was beginning to snowball. A year later when I returned, many of those people were underwater, the summer after that, some had foreclosed. After having lived in a variety of places across the US, I've come to the conclusion that a lot of people near population centers are simply delusional.

"That's typical. Come into our state, take our jobs/money and bad mouth us on your way out."
Maybe you should build a wall --on the Eastern border.

^ Naw... just pointing out the irony of saying its such a terrible place except for the fact that it was 1 of only 2 places in the country that he could get a job on his field.

The fact that he didn't make friends or date makes even more :scrutiny:
