For those that have more than one revolver

No such thing as a final revolver.

I no longer count how many guns I have... I count how many safes I have.

One last revolver. That's really funny! :neener:

I have a S&W m37 snubbie (.38spl) , a m66-3 (.357) a .38 Super victory revolver, and a .327 Fed mag. And I certainly wouldn't say I've gotten my "last revolver". Always keep an eye out for a really nice Chief's Special or a good model 29 that might be actually affordable.

S&W model 60 chiefs special
S&W model 66-2 2.25
S&W model 19-4 4" nickel
S&W model 36
If I could only keep one it would be the model 60

Yeah, I used to have a lot of guns until the big boating accident.....

I suppose my favorite handgun is....er....WAS the S&W 15-1 with 4 inch barrel. It just fit my hand and felt very natural.

I sure miss that gun.:rolleyes:

I have a couple Rugers and a few Smiths.

Right now the one I would keep is the Model 10-6 from my Dad who passed in February. For sentimental reasons. Beyond that, my 19-3 from 1972 which someone saved nib for me. Or the 25-13 Mountain gun. Wait, there's another favorite..

What is the premise here, one last gun?

I would keep one of my 3" model 65's. .357/.38 = wide variety of loadings; fixed sites are more robust than adjustables but still plenty accurate enough; k-frame vs. L or N (or Ruger) gives it slight advantage for carry and 3" vs. 4' barrel gives up some, but not signicant ballstics but provides great balance and "feel". Great "all-around" revolver.

I have a S&W 686-1 4'', a S&W 638-3 Airweight Bodyguard Snub, and a Taurus 905 9mm snub. Before my answer would have been the 686 hands down, but now that I have carried the snub, I cant go back to anything else for CC for very long! Its way too comfortable to carry, and I find myself carrying my autos just to ease the wear on my Airwieght!

I won't get into the fantasy of just one revolver, nor post a list of my several such weapons, but my favorite firearm, period, is a GP100 made about 1990. It was my duty sixgun for a while, a back-up for a much longer period, and was used in one of those "gravest extreme" incidents, plus quite a few near-shootings. In spite of its rather mechanical trigger pull, I could always shoot it just a bit better than several S&W sixguns I have owned, with smoother trigger pulls.

Let's see:
Smith and Wesson 629-1
Smith and Wesson 657-2
Smith and Wesson 65-1
Smith and Wesson 10-5
Smith and Wesson Model 1905 Hand Eject in .32-20, two of 'em.
Ruger Police Service Six in .357 Mag, (It's actually my Wife's.)
Have a Smith and Wesson 19-4 in nickel on lay-away right now.
Pick one only, Hmm, is this for deer hunting, self defense, range fun, or what? Sorry, but I can't decide. I suppose that's why I have 7 and am working on an 8th.

roaddog28, you really think the huge pictures were required? Take until next Tuesday for a dial up member to load the page.
Since I only have one that fits my hand, it'll be my GP100.

I was actually down to one firearm some years ago. Kept a six inch M19 S&W 357 mag. Now I would pick a 44 Mag S&W Mountain Gun. If I had to keep only one from my present revolvers it would be the Ruger Flat Top 44 Special with 5 and 1/2 inch barrel.

Sorry, my list of revolvers is embarassing to some - all S&W's, it contains several with the hideous Infernal Lock. I won't share said list for fear of offending someone's tender palate. At any rate, what I would keep is dependent on the criteria used to evaluate it's utility. Assuming I could have a 'pocket protector', too, I won't consider my 642. For other listed reasons, I would keep the following:

Sentimental: My wife bought me a new 625-7 Mountain Gun in .45 Colt to start my S&W madness over eight years ago. I soon started reloading just to make .45 Colts, too.

Fun - no reloading available: No question, my 4" x10 617 - fun plinker for frugal/everywhere ammo.

Fun - still reloading: Tough! Probably my 4" 627 Pro - x8 .38 plinker's & .357M's for other use.

Fun/Zombie protection: My 4" 625JM in .45 ACP. Ammo is everywhere.

I guess there are other criteria as well - and then, what if I couldn't have a separated pocket protector? I shudder to consider such - personal protection is paramount! Still, in such a scenario, or if the house is on fire, I'd likely only grab my 4" 64 and boogie... nightmare!

1. Heritage Rough Rider Combo, 5.5" 22LR

Rugers:

2. Redhawk, 5.5" 44 Mag
3. Police Service Six, 4" 357 Mag

S&Ws:

4. Pre-10 Transitional M&P, 5" .38
5. Pre-10 Transitional M&P, 6" .38 with Deane W. King "cockeyed" hammer and action job
6. Model 13, 3" 357 Mag
7. Model 14, 6" .38
8. Model 15, 2" .38
9. Model 15, 4" .38
10. Model 17, 6" .22 LR
11. Model 28, 4" 357 Mag
12. Model 66, 2.5" 357 Mag
13. Model 642, 1 7/8" .38
14. Model 686, 4" 357 Mag

I think that's all of them.

Wish list: 3.5 or 4" Model 29, 4" Model 19 or 66

Picking just one? Not possible, I could never pick a favorite child!

It would be my Dan Wesson 15-2 in 357mag. I could use as a CCW gun with a small grip and 2" barrel but can add the 8" barrel and large grip and have a great hunting pistol.

I don't know the exact number of revolvers I own, lets say a bunch. If I had to have just a single one I could get down to a 4" Ruger DA six series or a S&W 586/686 in 6". My current favorite shooter is a 4" Ruger Service Six in stainless, but the 586/686 guns are pretty sweet. I don't have a 4" K frame for a fair comparison to the 4" Ruger.

My 6" SS GP100 357 magnum ,will fill SD/HD & hunter ,not perfect for either but will hold it`s own & 357 ammo more rnds./ lb. than 44mag.

Fine lol make it two final revolvers then... since you only got two hands.

Phew. Would've been a tough choice between my 4" 10-shot 617 and my 3" Model 65.

My 617 is my most-shot gun. With it, I can target shoot, plink, shoot rimfire steel competitions, or use it as my understudy to my IDPA/USPSA/ICORE gun.

A 3" k-frame .357mag is, IMO, an exceptionally good all-around gun.

The reason I ask is because I want to get one final revolver! yes, a FINAL one. No more.

If I had several revolvers already and wanted one more FINAL one, I probably already have a .22 and a SD revolver, so I'd also consider going big and impractical for the final one - a registered .357 mag, a mint python, Manurhin, or Korth, or something from Freedom Arms or Hamilton Bowen (or any other top revolver 'smith).

One gun that I have that I would keep is a custom S&W 65 round butt with a 4" pencil barrel from a S&W 64 installed, the cylinder has been moonclipped and chamfered, It has a target trigger and hammer installed. It shoots 180gr LRNFPs over 15 grains of Lil'Gun like a laser and is very quick on target and recoil is very manageable, it is very fast on reloads and the target trigger is smooth a silk in double action and breaks wonderfully in single.

If I knew that I had get to only one gun I would have a S&W 13 round butt customized like this; a 3 inch intermediate barrel from a 10-5 or -7 installed, a gold bead front sight inserted, the cylinder moonclipped and chamfered, the whole thing black chromed, with a middle width hammer and trigger installed with the hammer semi bobbed and the trigger rounded and semi smoothed to remove most of the grooves. I would even think about having another cylinder made in 9mm to be used with moonclips.

Another gun I would think about having made would be a 581 converted to be similar to the 13 but converted to a 5 shot 45ACP

I have a few at the moment...

* S&W 19-5
* S&W 629
* S&W 310
* Colt Police Positive
* H&A 'Ranger'

And there are a few more on 'the list'... But the one I seek most, the one I lust after is the one that started it all:

The I-frame, S&W 1896 'First Model' Hand Ejector! I'd snap up either a 3" or a 4" blued model so fast it would make your head spin. Haven't been able to find any though... only ones on the market seem to be expensive presentation models. :(

You know, they make really cool things like Firefox plugins that let you selectively choose to load images based on size.

I don't list "all of my guns on the internet" period. But if I could only keep one revolver and still keep other guns, it would be one of these; a Smith Model 18, a 4" Colt Diamondback in 22LR, or Model 57 Smith (if I owned such a firearm in the first place). Ownership is a fluid thing.
