For those that have more than one revolver

but the gun I would get rid of last is my Korth.

envy. :_-)

I had shot one a long time ago that belonged to a friend at the old military range in Höltigbaum, if that rings a bell :), and wanted one since then.

I grew up in Hamburg and had an opportunity to visit the Korth factory before it closed its doors in 2008.

I don't think I could do better than a Ruger SP-101 .357 3" barrel with a hammer if I could own only one handgun.
But I still want others.

Of the ones I own, I'd keep the Smith & Wesson Model 60-15 Pro Series .357 if I could only have one. It has a great trigger and is a nice compromise for CCW, ratnge, HD, etc.

From my experience, the premise of this thread is a bit naive as I recall thinking that a 6" Colt Diamondback 22 was going to be my last revolver purchased just prior to getting married as at that time I owned every revolver and handgun I could possibly want or need. Things changed and that was a while ago. But I still fantasize about only buying one more revolver, one more 22 rifle, one more centerfire handgun, one more centerfire rifle etc. Guns are a major money pit as are most hobbies. The only difference is that guns retain some value after the purchase.

No question - the 686+ pre-ILS 6" Combat Magnum. Possibly the finest handgun ever made. It's the gun that made me believe that I could be a good shooter. So accurate, so powerful, it isn't even funny.

Hmmh, talking about money pits, it's not the guns. What is really expensive is the ammo. I used to shoot over 10,000 centerfire rounds per year for several years when I had a severe falling plate addiction.

I have, unfortunately had to make that choice in the past... and I kept my Colt King Cobra, while its no Python, for me if I only had one handgun, it would be the one. I have since having to make that choice in the past been able to rebuild my collection, adding a couple of semi autos and then I inherited a gun from each of my parents when they passed away. A Model 60 from my Dad and a Charter Arms Undercover from my Mom,

That would be a scenario where if I have to evacuate from my residence, what 2 guns, rifle and handgun would I take? Obviously it would be the guns that I shoot the best. For my revolver, I would keep the 19-6 with a couple of hundred 38 and 357 loads.

I own nine revolvers.

If I had to have just one revolver I would go with either the S&W 686 4" bl or the Ruger GP 101 4" bl.

It so happens that right now I don't own either, but if I found myself in such a dillema either one would work.

Okay, the question of which revolver to keep is an important one, so I enlisted the aid of the deepest thinker in my home - Elmer, the cat.

A bit of a cad at times, his answer was more of a riddle... "I cannot say which one I would keep, but I can say which one I wouldn't keep!"...

I think I understand... and agree...

PS I talk to cats....

Just one wheel gun, hmmmmmm .
It would have to be one to fufil all needs, defense and hunting.
I see no other choice, but to choose the one with the most practicle power which I have.
M 629 Sminth and Wesson 6 inch with custom trigger job.
I can use bird shot for pest like a close encounter with a skunk in a camp.
I can use light loads for medium game or personal defence and I can use a hard cast lead with a gas check for possible big game.
I really would hate not to include a 640 SW and Colt Python.

Far more than good taste...and space...would allow ;)...

The only really unique thing revolvers do for me personally (besides the sheer joy of shooting), that my autopistols can't do, is produce raw power. Since .44 Magnum will accomplish all that can be accomplished, power wise, as compared to my various .357 and .41 Magnums as well as my .45 Colt and .45acp revolvers, I'd have to go with one of my M29s.

Or...my M629, which, although only a 4"...who's power level is a bit less than my 6" M29...is stainless, Mag-Na-Ported and round-butt, making it a better carrying/shooting/handling proposition...

OMMV though :D

I have owned lots of revolvers over the years. Still have a few but the one that I have hung onto is a S&W 66 4". It is a first year model, no-dash, all stainless, even the sights. To me it is the perfect revolver for an outdoorsman. I cary it fishing, hiking, riding the ATV. In warm weather I keep 3 rounds of shotshells (snakes) and 3 hollow point in it. Its one of those guns that when you pick it up its just like shaking hands with an old friend.

Hard question, but probably be ruger Single six, stainless, 5 1/2 or 4 5/8. 2 calibers, don't reload, don't hand gun hunt, except for the occasional squirrel or rabbit- use rifle for anything bigger. 22 magnum for nightstand because the 12 guage 870/w 00 buck is for home defense. Anyone in the household could use this weapon, very safe, very strong. Cheap plentiful ammo.

It's odd - we all consider 'thinning the herd'. Threads like this remind us of such a consideration. In all seriousness, unless you have to, for legal or financial reasons, why do it? A case in point - my 4" & 6" 629 - I hadn't shot either in some time. The 4" went to the range on my last trip - along with a mix of .44 Russians, Specials, & mediocre Magnums - and sporting wood grips. Also in the bag - my new PC627 UDR and some .38's. I enjoyed shooting that day - the only live ammo that made the trip home was the five rounds in my pocket protector 642! No, the 629's future here is assured.

Unless you simply must, or have taken up stamp collecting, don't thin the herd! Sorry, Elmer, the Nagants are safe, too...

S&W K 22/32 kit gun (pre model 34)- accurate, carries well, kills game up to deer size if necessary, and I do not know of anyone who can survive one well placed shot from a .22. Grandpa knew what he was doing when he bought this one!! Wish he were still with us... love you old man...
