I have a question for the Alaskan. Is the Mini-14 more acceptable because it has a traditional wood stock and a scope on it?
Put a 30 round magazine on a Mini-14, how is that any differet from an AR?
Its hilarious that Ruger was able to get the Mini exempted from the 1994 AWB, because there's no difference between the two, lol.
I'm actually trying to duck out of this discussion, but since you called me out by name...
No I don't see any difference at all between an AR15 and a Mini 14/30, and I also find it odd and stupidly comical that the Mini 14/30 was exempted from the 94 AWB.
I hate these discussions because they always end bad. I won't drink the kool-aid and agree with the black gun guys, so I'm a Fudd. This is why I avoid public gun ranges at almost any cost. Which means I haven't shot much in the past 15 years. It's also why I stopped participating in NRA High Power matches. I just got sick of being drummed over the head with the notion that, to be a good gun owner I had to love assault weapons. In fact, I'm not even allowed to call an assault weapon, an assault weapon. (I know the legal definition of the term "assault weapon" and I don't care; an AR15 is an assault weapon because, with the exception of selective fire, it's the same gun as the M16.)
Until about three weeks ago, I didn't feel any need to defend myself from my government, and I'm not certain I feel any need now, but I no longer have any confidence in our government's desire to protect and uphold some of our other rights. Still that doesn't mean I'm going to ru out and buy an assault weapon, join the Oath Keepers, and start planning to overthrow the government via armed insurrection. But that makes me a dirty Fudd and a "bad" gun owner.
