A robber was shot Saturday in Florence after one of his intended victims wrestled his gun away from him, the TimesDaily in Florence reports.

Two men had been approached by a man wearing a bandanna over his face, the newspaper reports. Police were interviewing a man who was treated for a gunshot wound on Saturday.

Interesting...

The anti-gunners always say guys like us shouldn't have guns, because the bad guys will just take them away. I guess that works the other way around, too!

BTW: If the bad guys will just take away someone's guns, then isn't it dangerous for police to carry guns? After all, the bad guys will just take them away.

Seems to me that under the current assinine laws in this country that the BG will probably end up with charges AGAINST THE GOOD GUY.!!!!!! After the good guy got control of the gun he should have just kept it and turned it over to the first leo to arrive on the scene. Shooting the BG constitutes aggravated battery with a deadly weapon under the circumstances described. Our country is truely screwed up. FRJ

Story from the Florence paper.

FLORENCE - Police say a man was shot after he attempted to rob two men at a residence on Rickwood Court on Saturday.

No arrests have been made but police have interviewed a man being treated for a gunshot wound.

Investigator Brian Perry said a man with a bandanna covering his face approached two men sitting in their carport listening to music just before 3 p.m.

The suspect pulled a pistol from his pocket and told the men to "give him everything they had."

"He pulled the gun out and was trying to take their stuff when one of the victims was able to wrestle the gun away from him," Perry said.

When he ran, the victim fired at the suspect, hitting him once.

The suspect ran into a nearby neighborhood and got into a silver car with two other people.

Perry said a gunshot victim was interviewed later in the day and is being considered a person of interest in the robbery.

As of Saturday evening, however, there was not enough evidence linking the man to the robbery.

Evidence collected at the scene could lead to an arrest, he said.

Perry said no charges have been filed against the man who fired at the fleeing robber.

The weapon, a .45-caliber Springfield XD pistol, was recovered at the scene.

"No one is under arrest, but right now we have some persons of interest," Perry said. "We have the weapon and some other evidence."

I live in Florence and the story seems a little hokey to me; I know I would not have been sitting in the carport listening to music at 3:00 pm on Saturday, it was pretty chill, high temperature in the low 40s that day.
