I'm looking at a setting up a little vacation for me and my girl. She wants to become armed, and I want her to become armed under the right conditions. We are thinking of attending a Frontsight Training event. So We can both get our CCW's (I live in NY) Does anyone know how Frontsight holds up? The offer here says a free Springfield XD is this too good to be true? Is the price right for everything that is promised? Has anyone here attended a Frontsight Event? Take a look for yourselves https://www.frontsight.com/free-gun.asp

I smell commercial ad.. But if not, please accept my sincerest apologies as I watch..

If a company is relying more on its advertising schemes and commercialism to sell their firearms training than on the outstanding reputation they have amongst the tactical training community than..... well, you get my point.

They rely on the former. I have rarely heard of anything good said about them by anyone I would consider a true professional. Uh, change that "rarely" to a "never."

They fit in well in Vegas.

I have been to the training at Front Sight, and I can tell you that it was top notch.

Do they try and sell memberships? Ya, for about 10 minutes at one of the lunch sessions they go over the various membership options/benefits. That was it for the full 4 days.

I think that you'll find that most, if not all, of the negative opinions come from people that have never been there.

The "free gun" thing -was- true, but I don't know if they are still running that promo. What you -can- do is buy a training certificate on Ebay for ~$100 or so that will allow you to attend a 4 day class, or two people to attend a two day class. That is a -great- way to get a look at the place, for not a lot of coin, and decide for yourself.

Source of those certs ... they are given as part of the "lifetime" memberships ... and those members can do with them as they please. Many sell them to recoup part of the membership cost. They are legit ... that is how I went.

i remember the founder (piaza, or something, right?), used a dashcam of a police officer benig gun downed to help sell his classes. instead of quoting the story, he had to show the video of the man being murdered. granted, he had a good point, however i don't see politicians showing decapitation videos by drug cartels to the citizens to prove why they shouldn't travel to mexico. just telling them is fine.

that said, many of my family members are LEOs, so i take offense to things like that rather easily. i'd rather spend my money on a school that doesn't resort to such business tactics.

I went to Front Sight a while back with a gift cert... so it was free. Worth every penny. Now if you asked me to pay for it, I would take pause.

Ken,
I can endorse this program with much reservation
Did you mean that, or did you mean without reservation ? Interested as I need more training and with the exception of James Yeager or Suarez I am totally unsure which ones on or near the east coast are any good.

There's nothing being taught here at West Shore Sportsmen's that I wouldn't endorse in general. If I couldn't, I wouldn't allow them to come in and use the club's facilities to teach classes.

Insights, Tom Givens at Rangemaster out of Memphis, most recently Larry Vickers. I have no problems with their cirriculum, teaching styles, or business practices. Now some classes might not be a perfect fit for some student for a particular reason, but in general terms, I support the guys coming here.

In fact, I'm taking Tom's class here at the end of July. I'm not getting any deal on it. I'm paying full price to take it. Looking forward to it very much, too.

At the shop I worked at we did get some transferred xd's from the front sight program, never asked the customer about the program... none of them seemed excited to get their xd's
