Today was one of the most fun days of my life. After waiting for about 8 years, the planets aligned and I got to go shooting with the friend of a friend, who owns some of the coolest guns on the planet. I got to shoot my M11/9 with its new suppressor (including some awesome sub-sonic rounds provided by this friend), along with his H&K UMP .45, H&K G36C 5.56, H&K MP5 with suppressor and sub-sonic ammo, an M4 with grenade launcher, a .50 cal rifle shooting proprietary high explosive rounds at $500/per, a couple of suppressed ‘sniper’ rifles in .223 and .308 (the latter with sub-sonic ammo), and the grand finale, an M60 firing tracer rounds. I even got to Rambo a 200-round belt with one hand. :D:D:D

It was, to say the least, unbefrickinlievable. There were also some loverly, yet more pedestrian firearms brought by the group, such as high-end AR-15s and M1As and SOCOMs and Glocks and Beretta M3s and Para-Ordnances and my old Ishy Enfield 7.62 and .30-30s and Mossberg 590s and all sorts of good stuff.

I even hit a 2’X2’ plate at 100 yards 2 times out of 6 with my 2” snubbie Smith & Wesson Model 10 .38 special (standing). I was rather surprised by that. I also hit it about 5 times out of 15 with my brother’s Beretta 92FS 9mm. We drove out to the middle of nowhere and the weather was awesome; 55 degrees and sunny with no wind, and no Rangers or Sheriffs bothered us, despite the considerable commotion.

Then we came home and my wife and I took our daughter out for her 7th birthday dinner to a very nice Japanese restaurant. A fantastic day; one for the books.:cool:

Many moons ago I got to sit behind a friend's 1919 Browning (with that cool water jacket around the barrel!) and fire off a 200-round belt of 30-06. Awesome fun!

Fun, ain't it? :)

I've done quite bit of FA shooting AR/M16 rifles, a 9mm MP5 clone and a .45ACP UZI. Expensive, but great fun. I wish I could afford to buy a couple of FA items. :(

What's really fun is when someone who doesn't know you're shooting FA pulls up at the range and sets up close buy. Stick a mag in, start shooting long bursts with brass flying everywhere, and watch their eyes almost bug out of their heads. I've seen some truly shocked reactions when folks suddenly discovered that the guy standing next to them is shooting a machine gun.

Belt feds are lots of fun, I love my 1919. If your friend's Browning was water cooled, however, it was most likely a 1917 or 1917A1, as the 1919s are air cooled.

The very first rifle I ever fired was an M60. I only got 5 rounds but have wanted one ever since. My second was a M16A1. If it weren't for High School ROTC I wouldn't have ever experienced that tiny little morsel of fun. Maybe some day I'll get another chance to shoot or, even better, buy either of them.

And none of those machineguns tried to kill the neighbors, rob a bank, or shoot up the local Federal building?

I'm shocked. I thought they were all just waiting for a chance to attack.

How dare they just sit there and be fun to shoot without harming anyone, throws of the balance of nature according to some :)
