Today was one of the most fun days of my life. After waiting for about 8 years, the planets aligned and I got to go shooting with the friend of a friend, who owns some of the coolest guns on the planet. I got to shoot my M11/9 with its new suppressor (including some awesome sub-sonic rounds provided by this friend), along with his H&K UMP .45, H&K G36C 5.56, H&K MP5 with suppressor and sub-sonic ammo, an M4 with grenade launcher, a .50 cal rifle shooting proprietary high explosive rounds at $500/per, a couple of suppressed ‘sniper’ rifles in .223 and .308 (the latter with sub-sonic ammo), and the grand finale, an M60 firing tracer rounds. I even got to Rambo a 200-round belt with one hand.
It was, to say the least, unbefrickinlievable. There were also some loverly, yet more pedestrian firearms brought by the group, such as high-end AR-15s and M1As and SOCOMs and Glocks and Beretta M3s and Para-Ordnances and my old Ishy Enfield 7.62 and .30-30s and Mossberg 590s and all sorts of good stuff.
I even hit a 2’X2’ plate at 100 yards 2 times out of 6 with my 2” snubbie Smith & Wesson Model 10 .38 special (standing). I was rather surprised by that. I also hit it about 5 times out of 15 with my brother’s Beretta 92FS 9mm. We drove out to the middle of nowhere and the weather was awesome; 55 degrees and sunny with no wind, and no Rangers or Sheriffs bothered us, despite the considerable commotion.
Then we came home and my wife and I took our daughter out for her 7th birthday dinner to a very nice Japanese restaurant. A fantastic day; one for the books.
