Yesterday I got 2 500 round bricks of Armscor SV for 18.99 a brick.
My wife stopped in today after work and bought 2 more.
This brought my supply back to being able to shoot 22 without feeling bad.
If it's sub sonic I'm going to trade it to a friend for high velocity ammo.
He's out of ammo for his suppressed bolt gun.

At least you didn't buy it from the rear of a guy's truck in loose 325-rd. cartons: 1500 rds.of tarnished Federal.

Every sixth-tenth round causes a double-feed jam. Stick to ammo where the cardboard box isn't sealed (check brass), or from a store.

Since I purchased an Anschutz, my entire perspective of .22 ammo has changed dramatically. I was always in the camp of any brand volume for less money just to shoot; now my quest is for a very particular fodder at the lowest going price - $100 a brick is about right in this present market.
I still have plenty of the less expensive stuff, but that is just an emergency backup. I used to think that hitting a squirrel size target at 50 yards was an accomplishment; now if I do not hit the previous .22 hole at 50 yards, I am disappointed. I am amazed at how accurate a fine .22 rifle can be with an ammo lot/ brand it likes - it is very addicting.

I would go back to bow hunting first.
My current 22s shoot Aguila sub sonic best. I haven't been able to find that in 2 years.
I've started burning up my Federal auto match that was my back up. I figured Armscor at the least will carry me along.

I have been really impressed with results from some .22’s with Aquila “standard velocity” (subsonic) “Eley prime” ammunition. Unfortunately, the last batch I bought reads “Aquila prime” and something other than packaging has changed.

That Eley primed was the the stuff. I had ammo cans full of it until I ran out.
It sold me on standard velocity.

I have read that they purchased either the rights or actual equipment Eley uses, and they are actually the same with different labeling but I have enough samples of both to know something is different between the two.

Local Wal Marts have had 22LR in stock fairly often lately. Still 3 box limit on any ammo. I grab some if it's there when I am in, but I don't go to the stores daily looking.

I haven't been to our Walmart in years. If I can't get it at the local grocery, hardware, or Atwoods, I probably don't want it. I realize some are limited to Walmart because of locale.

I've been impressed with that as well, and my squirrel gun seems to like it better than any target ammo I've put through it. There's only a couple makes of Elay and SK that my cz 457 likes more than the Aguila SV, same with my .22 AR upper with a heavy target barrel. Hopefully what you said about having the rights is true, I just checked and I only have 2 more bricks of the Eley prime, and my remaining brick after that says Aguila Primed.

How does it shoot? Does it smell the same as the Eley primed stuff?

My RIA 22 hates this stuff. 1.5" 5&10 shoot groups at 50 yards.
I'm going to dig out the Springfield single shot tomorrow and see how it does.

I’m not one to tell smell but after a week of playing with it in one of the rifles that seemed to prefer it, shooting my 10 plate rack at 80 yards (small plates are under 2”) I was out to clear out some squirrels and came across this pig, that didn’t take a step. Unfortunately for him, he was at the exact distance I had been perfecting all week.

Wish I could find a brick for $19. Any brand. The only 22 rds I've found near me $12 for 50 rds.
I've stopped using high velocity 22rnds. I've found no advantage in them. Sud sonic works just fine for me.
That's how it was here. Dunham's has them for 12 for 50. I laughed and walked away.
It's slowly correcting itself. I'm seeing pistol and rifle ammo on the shelves. Not necessarily great prices. But they're available if I get in a bind.

I’m looking for Aguila Colibri for the kids to shoot in the yard. Haven’t found any locally in over a year and am about to run into my reserves. I also use them for pest control and haven’t found anything else as underpowered to use. I may have to go get a pumpmaster 760 if things don’t change soon.

No, the Aguila primed stuff doesn't smell any different than most any other .22LR.

The Eley primed version smelled really distinctive; it had a cat pee smell to it (same as Eley branded .22LR).

It seems to shoot fairly similar though but I haven't compared them side-by-side in the same gun.

I have found pellet guns to still be a lot of fun as an adult. My shooting ability with the iron sighted ones has gone to pot though.

I got good news for you.

During the 10/22 3000 round and T/CR22 1000 round ammo comparison testing, I did some ELEY vs Aguila primed testing and results were different than what I expected. I figured ELEY primed ammo to produce smaller groups consistently and that wasn't the case. Depending on 10 round box selected, sometimes Aguila primed ammo produced comparable, even slightly smaller groups to the point where I didn't mind buying Aguila primed ammo.

Mind you, my "heart" tugs at ELEY primed ammo to produce smaller groups so I may do a blind ELEY vs Aguila testing on my next range trip.

And I can't really tell if gun smoke smells any different but my wife tells me I am not a "super taster" like her.

I don’t really have my heart set on anything and try to remove myself as much as possible from testing. If it works, it works.

I didn’t realize there were two different versions until I had different results from what I had thought was the same thing.

Same for me.

My GSG 1911 22LR hated Armscor too and only produced around 2" groups at 25 yards with my pre-cataract surgery eyes (BTW, left eye surgery was yesterday and right eye in 3 weeks). :D
