Target World in Cincinnati is having H&K days. Sale on H&K stuff, but who cares, big thing was MP-5 available to shoot.

I walked out with a big grin.

$10 for a mag (25-round), as many mags as you want.

I shot my first mag semi, 8" group at 15 yards.
Second mag: two short bursts, then let the rest go.

Way too much fun.

The next time there's a Machine Gun Shoot here in the North East I'm gonna try one of those. The last one I went to I was thinking of trying it but there were so many things to choose from and so little cash I had to choose only a few.:banghead: Fifty cal, full auto, what a trip!!!!!:D Actually made the local news. A reporter was at the shoot in Westfield, MA and came up to me right when I was about to start shooting. He asked me to hold off shooting until he made his intro to the camera. Once he did his thing, I let rip the 50 cal and enjoyed destroying an old car that was on the field.

A few years ago my wife, youngest son and I were passing through Las Vegas. We stopped at an indoor range where they advertised the H&K SMG for your shooting pleaasure. I had to give it a go so I bought two magazines worth. The gun shop guy that had to monitor said no firing of the entire magazine at one time. I started firing 3 and 4 shot bursts rather close together. The gun shop guy said that threre were to be no full mags shot at once. I could tell the gun shop guy had zero knowledge about SMG's and trigger control. I told him about trigger control but he still did not seem to catch on. He was glad when I was through with the second mag.:D

I have managed to fire the Thompson in .45 caliber, the M3A1 'grease gun' in .45 caliber, the Mac11 in .380 and the Uzi and MP5 in 9mm.

they are great to shoot but alas, the PRK frowns on such things.

That was fun as hell! I got 2 mags, best time of my life! I so want a nfa gun now!

I just realized that I forgot my Target World card.

I was there at around 12:00 today

Cyanide - I was there 11:45 to 12:30
We must have passed.

I was glasses, jeans, red shirt, blue jacket.

Thats the same time frame I was there.

I was the young kid w/ the gray backpack, black university of cincinnati jacket, black shirt, and blue jeans.

I did the Las Vegas machine gun shoot a coupla months ago. Shot the M249 SAW, MP5 and Thompson. The SAW was the most fun...but it's an indoor range and the targets are so close. I'd rather be out in the desert shooting up fruit or old washing machines.

wonder how many arms i gotta twist to make WA bring out a FUN gun this weekend?

whaddaya say WA? i'll buy the ammo! and load the beta c mag!

Stuff I've shot at one time or another:

MP5A3
MP5SD2
MP5K PDW
Uzi
Suppressed Uzi (Gemtech Mossad I think it was)
Cobray M-11 9mm (several)

M60: several
M249: Several (and yes, they are fun at 100-200 yards on spread out targets).

I fired a MP40 (Schmeisser) with blanks.
I got to handle the granddaddy of all assault rifles, the Stg45 (the MP43/44 were it's predecessor models, but extremely similar), which was cut-reciever but a new one to shoot blanks had been fitted for WW2 re-enactments. Unfortunately, the guy had just shot all of them off. :)

At least I got to handle it. Ergonomics are a bit better than the AK (more straight line), weight's about the same, sights, similar...... something I'd be happy to go to war with today. I'd prefer a tricked out AR, but the Stg45 is still a solid gun. And there's a couple floating around in Iraq (seen the pics?)

I've shot a semi Thompson..... still wanting to shoot the auto.

Phil CA...

I think I went to the exact same place you did, while I had a stop over on business in Las Vegas and was killing some time. I shot through many clips and a whole range of weapons - and the mp5 (love that one). Though they let me shoot through whole clips. I only did that a couple times, it was more fun doing concentrated +5 blasts. Although I will say the thompson .45 was the most fun holding down the trigger and letting it all go.

First FA I shot was the Thompson, then the M3, and then the MP5.
They were all at a range in Marietta, GA. I loved the M3.

At the old Second Chance Bowling Pin Shoot I fired more Thompsons, a UZI, a couple of Reisings, and a suppressed MP5K. At the same shoot a couple of years later I shot an M16, an FND (updated BAR) and a M2 50 cal. I should have ponied up the cash and shot the M2 every year!

I've also managed to shoot a Schnellfeur (FA Broomhandle Mauser), an Ingram M6 in .45ACP, and a Madsen M50 9mm. I also shot an EMP, a German subgun made in the 1930s.

At a shoot in Minnesota I got to run a mag through an UD M42, a rare US subgun mostly used by the OSS in WWII. I also shot a Browning 1917 and a S&W M76. I didn't like the Smith much, but the UD M42 was neat.

More recently, I visited a Class III manufacturer and shot a Tippman minature .22 MG and a converted Glock 34. Fun was had by all.

I've never shot an M2 Carbine, an Ak, or a Czech Skopian .32 ACP. Hope to find one of each to shoot someday.

The range I went to in Vegas had no problem with emptying the mag. In fact, the range guy was getting impatient because I shot the first 2 magazines in short bursts, then let the 3rd mag rip.

Most horrific thing was what they did to the guns. The MP5 that I shot had a screw through the safety to keep it off-safe and in full auto mode.

Rockrvr, I think that there is a place in NH called "The firing line" that rents an mp-5, in case you don't want to wait for the next shoot. I think the web addy is
http://www.gunsnh.com/index.html

here's a list of their machine gun rentals... I think it's $35 an hour or something.

I have yet to check this place outr, but I want to soon. :)

Just got back from Target World! :D

I dumped 2 magazines through the MP-5. Fun!

Two pulls of the trigger = 50 rounds! :D

I will need to head up to target world tommorow, i have been itching to try out a full auto for ages now.

Did the Vegas thing many yrs ago. Range guy had to go along and he carried mags. I did a couple run thrus before I asked for first mag. (Thompson SMG) after third 3rd burst he handed me the mag and said have fun. I came back (with gun unloaded) and asked for MP-5. He handed me gun/mags..... I asked if he would come along and vidio tape me. So he did. I have me loading and bunch of 3-4rd bursts and then a full mag. :) :) :)

First FA: M1A1 Thompson at 11 years old!
Then: M16A1 at 17
M60 at 17 (ROTC)
MAC 10 .45
M2 :)
M16A2
AK-47
RPK
RPD
M249
MP5SD
Got to handle an AK-74, not enough ammo in the AMTU's inventory to fire it. (1987) Same with the DshK 12.7. :D

Once you've shot full auto, it's hard to go back to semi-. First FA I shot was a Thompson. Believe it or not, it was a college PE class in marksmanship! Of course that was in the early '70's. We took a field trip to the local police range and tried a variety of SMGs.

Best one since then was the venerable M2HB I got to shoot earlier this year at a local MG shoot. Now to save up for a pre-86 transferrable MG.

Oh, no its not. I've shot Uzi's and HK's and its really not hard to go back to non-NFA. The biggest thing about owning NFA is that you'll spend a fortune on ammo annually.

lessee... i've shot:

M-16A1 (FA) (that sucked, since i'm a lefty)

7.62X39 AK (FA)

MP-5(FA)

M249(blanks)

M60 (blanks)

the m-16 and the AK were at a sice match at the SOF 3-gun match. i shot the stage faster on semi.

my dad's friend, andy stanford let me shoot an mp-5 he had for a class he was teaching there. i left it on semi for the first two magazines, and fired 3 round bursts for the last one (it was an SEF trigger pack)

the m249 and the 60 were fun, i got to shoot them at a USMC/ARMY open house when i was like 10. the 60 ran away on me.

They most fun one can have with a full auto weapons is a MK-19 with a full belt of HEDP grenades........to think that the goverment paided me to fire them!

You guys probably won't believe it but the very first time I shot a gun was an MP5 full auto at an indoor range in florida... it had the 3 round burst feature too. It was just $15 to rent any machine gun all day long plus they give you 2 mags. Only thing was you had to buy the ammo from them. Cool stuff. :) Next time I'm there I'll try the UZI.
