This is the frame blank of a pistol, pre-machining. Can anyone tell me the pistol, or family of pistols, that it is going to become? If you study the contours you will be able to recognize some features that will lead you to the answer with some thought. These blanks are still easily available for sale at this time as well.

No, the frame casting is not a Desert Eagle, by the scale the casting measures 6" long or so...so its a smaller gun.

not the 1903 pocket pistol. Here's a hint. The frame and trigger guard are separate pieces.

Hmmmm, is the first one a mortar by chance?
My guess on the second is maybe some type of anti-tank/vehicle mine.

Tom e,
close, but not quiet... the pop out fins are going to be the giveaway on the first one.

You are sniffing in the right neighborhood on the second one, but knocking on the wrong doors. Not a mine, but it is an "empty".

The post about the M1 carbine using a staked gas system, which precluded the use of corrosive ammo because it was not considered "field strippable" and could not be cleaned by the average soldier, was correct.

The other pistol used in the 1911 trials was a Savage model H variant, I believe. DWM won a spot in the final trials, along with Colt and Savage during the initial trials (that included 6 weapon manufacturers), but failed to submit a unit for the final testing, so it was just Colt and Savage that were in the final trials,

Lol, I googled that, M-Cam.....won't lie
Savage Model 1907................

Tom E.
Correct, the first photo is a cluster bomblet, although from a Vietnam era bomb. The fins that retard the rate of fall and serve to distribute the ordnance over a larger area is the giveaway.

The second one is not a leftover from a mine. It is a left over from an explosion.... although the on-target ordnance is non-explosive, and did not include this piece. That's a huge clue

Still no correct answers on the frame casting yet

Tom e, partly correct, It is part of a large round. But,what part, and what kind of large round? With the clues I've given you should be able to tell me the caliber of the gun, how the gun is mounted and used, what this round will be predominantly shot at, and even what kind of rifling the gun has.

Another ordnance question...

This is a hybrid round. It enters the breech of the gun like this, and this is the only thing that enters the breech for each charge...and leaves like this, all in one piece. Who made it, and for what gun?

Makarov or Walther?

Evil: You'll need to be more specific for me to say yay or nay. Keep researching though...you are on the right track
