Yep, that's what the trailing loop does.
Lots and lots of guys will recommend holsters like this, a holster without a trailing loop. Heck in this thread even...
Some guys will recommend the BlackHawk SERPA even. I don't know what they are thinking. Hey, you can use these kind of holsters for the range if you want, or if you want to wear a parka and a holstered G26, but it's going to be very tough to conceal a fill size gun without a trailing loop, and usually some amount of cant, to conceal a full size gun.

There are basically two effective designs used for OWB concealment holsters. Either a pancake, which is basically what your Glock Sport Holster is, and the Bruce Nelson #1 Professional style, often called the Avenger style. Both have a trailing loop that will pull the grip of your gun close to your body.
