Despite the Sig 232 being a GORGEOUS gun, and tiny, easily hidden, I've decided that .380 is a bit of a gamble in SD situations, and is expensive to practice shooting.

Thus, it's on to a 9mm, slender/concealed. My issue is the G19 has had issues hiding on me due to it's "brick" like thickness, both in handle and in back of barrel.
For criteria, I enjoy a low-bore axis, and swept-handle. A good "pointer", if you will. (Walthers are out, sold one to get the 232...).

I saw a picture of a P7 and a G19, and they seemed about the same thickness, especially at the base of the handle, but that was just pics. Would a P7 be slender enough to keep up with a P232 in concealment?

Any other suggestions?

If you want a small 9mm there are plenty out there. Some to look at:

Kahr CM9

Kahr CW9

Ruger LC9

However, if you want to conceal the Glock 19, it can absolutely be done. Get a real gun belt and A FEW decent holsters to find the right one for YOU. Then you may have to dress around the gun also. Good luck.

Try renting or even looking at the Ruger lc9. Great ccw. I own a glock 19 gen 3. Great weapon and yes you need the right holster to carry it comfotable. Im gonna try the summer time galco holster for the glock

you know, at first i thought the glock 19 would not conceal well and was going to get an EMP for concealed carry, but after I got a theis holster for it not really expecting it to conceal well, it conceals very well with the hybrid leather/kydex system. I was pretty amazed, with the right cant, the gun just sorta disappears on me with just a teeshirt on.

but if youre set on getting something smaller, i'd definitely take a look at the EMP. nice and slim, points well, and feels great in the hand. its heavy enough that recoil and such are not going to be such a huge factor like when you fire a db9 or lc9. but thats my preference, YMMV.

I find the Glock 19 easy to conceal IWB..That said..

Many of the ones mentioned by others will also be good. I also like my brother's Kahr CW9. Carrying a "nine" is a smart move if one can handle it : and there are so many good quality nines available today.

I have a G19, H&K P7 (PSP & M8) and EMP. The G19 is the lightest and the thickest, the P7 is the heaviest and the thinnest, the EMP is right in the middle.

I also have a Kahr CW9 which I think of as the gun Glock would have made if they made a single stack 9mm. It is thinner, lighter and more accurate...while still being easy to shoot.

The P7 is thin but mega heavy and holds much less ammo compared to the Glock. You may want to consider some other options as well.

If you remove the concealed requirement in your equation, you open up a lot more, and more effective, possibilities.

The P232 is hardly a small gun compared to some of the new crop of pocket guns. You could upgrade to 9mm (Ruger LC9, Sig P290, Kimberly Solo) without having to go to a larger gun at all.

That said, it is quite possible to conceal a Glock 19 or similar sized gun comfortably, but it requires more dressing around the gun that a pocket gun does.

The Boberg XR-9S is out now and is the same size as a Ruger LCP. If it works out, we may have another pocketable 9mm (the Kahr PM9 being the other.)

I have a G19 and an H&K P7. But I carry a J-Frame snubby with CT Lasergrips in a Mika pocket holster. My muscle memory is built around it and the pocket I carry it in, so I won't get another CCW gun - in a stressful situation, "Which gun do I have today?" won't go through my mind.

I'll throw in my vote for the Kahrs as well. CW9 and PM/CM9 are both good. The PM/CM9 are about the smallest 9mm options available while the CW9 is still much smaller than the G19 but more comfortable to shoot than the PM/CM9. Kahr is probably the most underrated firearm in my opinion.

Get the P7. One of the thinner SERVICE-SIZED pistols out there, it will outshoot all of those itty-bitty pocket guns (unless you are an expert marksman, you will almost always shoot better with a larger gun), while still being more compact than most other maker's so-called compact handguns. Unlike some of the newer, pocket-sized guns out there, there really is no debate on the reliability of the P7, and with its full-sized grip it points very, very well. Accurate (due to its fixed barrel and low-in-the-hand bore axis), reliable (due to its ingenious gas-delayed action, which has been demonstrated to work WITHOUT the extractor in the gun ), flat (no protuding levers), compact (only 6.5 inches overall), but with a 4.13 inch long barrel, with good sights and a great trigger, fast into action (with the novel squeeze-cocking action), this is a gun that routinely sells for more used than the Glock does new. In this world, you sometimes do get what you paid for--get the P7. Best,
JD

I have owned a g19 and currently own an HKP7

The HK is thin but as mentioned, very heavy for its size. This requires more support than other guns its size.

It also requires getting used to the squeeze cocking mechanism.

I love the gun but it is not for everyone.

Borrow one before you drop all that cash.

BTW
G19 is reliable and cheap. Lots of leather made for it. Not so much for the no longer produced P7.

I carry a G19 and I would vote for that since concealment is largely a factor of finding a holster that works for you, and there are more holsters floating around for g17/19/26/22/23/27 (which are all the same diameter) than anything else except for possibly 1911's.

I carry a G19 in a comp-tac minataur on a velco uncle mikes duty liner or a thick leather belt and it works very well for me. It is secure, and it is easy to reholster so I can practice with it effectively. IMHE -with a good holster, the diameter does not matter as much as the length of the grip. If you want something more concealable you can get a G26 and still carry a G17 mag as a spare. I carry G17 mags as spares anyways to avoid pinching the skin on the bottom of my hand when slapping a mag in.
