interesting...

I wonder if it would be as bad with a glock.

I think i'm going to try it out, let me know what Galco says, wouldya?

does it really look like leather?

does it really look like leather?
No it doesn't. It looks like thick molded plastic. At a distance, I guess to could look like leather. It is not boxy at all.

I measured the trigger gaurd on my SA and then measured the trigger gaurd on my Para Ordnance P12-45. (width) The trigger gaurd is wider on the SA. So, I tried the Para in the holser and it was tighter than the SA. I then measured the width of the slide. The Para is slightly wider.

So I ran the Para in and out a few times. It was shaving plastic at the front of the eject port just like the SA. After that I tried the SA and it was some improved.

So I think it will get better.

Galco e-mailed me today. (fast response, I like that)
I have the same Matrix that I use with a Colt Commander .45. I’ve found two things:

Because it has no “give,†the Matrix is very sensitive to the angle at which the pistol is withdrawn. If you exert forward pressure (top of the slide against the front of the holster) during the draw stroke, the draw becomes much more difficult. Make sure you are drawing at the same angle at which the holster holds the pistol.
If the tightness goes beyond the draw angle, try a small bit of neutral-color Kiwi (yes, the shoe polish) rubbed into the trigger guard area of the holster. This slicked up my Matrix to a very smooth and fast draw that was much less dependent on exact angle.

If neither suggestion makes the holster satisfactory for you, contact me again and I will give you a return authorization (RA) number, so you can send the Matrix back to us for exchange or refund.

Best regards,

At this time I don't intend to send it back. Why take a chance that I will have to start over. I really think after I work with it, it will be a good holster. I really like the way it pulls up tight against the body.

Will keep you informed.

Update:

After more shaving and sanding my Springfield snaps clean from the rig.

I like the holster.

Galco stated the there are slight variations in different mfg. of the 1911. That may be the problem. It's a tight fit both the holster to gun and holster to the body which I like.

I took about 98% of the molded part from the eject port area. Works good now.

I'm also pleased with Galco PROMPT responses and genuine care. :)

Me happy now!

so, I finally got it.

it's crazy tight for the Glock 19. I think I'm going to use the Kiwi trick and then maybe sand it down.

wish me luck

I have since discovered the reason for mine being tight.

Originally it was tight holding the holster in hand and working the gun. I managed to sand and make it work when the holster is in hand.

When put on the belt (mine anyway) compresses the holster lengthways along the belt. It puts pressure on the bottom of the trigger gaurd and presses the gun at the top of the slide on the outside half of the holster.

I can duplicate the problem by bending the holster in one hand and pulling on the gun with the other.

I don't know if yours is having the same problem or not.

I've given up for now. I will work with it more after the holidays. I think I may have taken too much meat from the holster to make it work. We'll see.

yeah, but I have to hold the holster very tight while doing so. When it was on my belt, I about gave myself a wedgie trying to get the gun out.

It's been a while since anyone has posted on this thread....but I did a search and now I have 1 question....

Did anyone try heating the holster up like you would a Fobus to get it to fit a little better?
