I was bugging GA about their "+P" 10mm ammo. They claim a 180gr at 1150 fps on the package (if there was a 10mm +P that wouldn't be it). I chronoed it at 1040 from a Witness.

Anyways they emailed me back with this response.

Andrew, sorry for the delay, I just downloaded this email from our server. You are correct, that velocity is wrong for the 10mm 180 Gold Dot load. I am not sure what the problem is but I looked back at the last several lots we ran and the velocity averages around 1176 to 1200 in our test gun which is an S&W 1006. We did reduce the pressure on this load from about 6 or 8 years ago as several guns on the market have a huge feed ramp that creates problems with case expansion. (The Colt Double Eagle and Glock 20 come to mind.) Is it possible that the ammo is misslabeled? I will be happy to swap the ammo out for you. Thanks for the input. Curtis

Does anybody see the possible irony in the Glock 20? It's in a way keeping the 10mm cartridge alive, and yet killing it at the same time.

Hmmm, sounds like someone is using a non existing conditon as a scapegoat for his poor ammunition. If he want's performance withotu pressure he needs to use a slower buring powder. Most likely he is using a faster buring powder because it is cheaper and doesn't want to change to a slower burning powder that he will have to use more of.

If the G20 is so bad, how is it that I can shoot a hanloaded Hornady 200 gr. XTP out of my factory G20 (with factory barrel) at 1,275 fps? I shouldn't be able to do that if you are to believe this guy. How I did it is to use toe correct powder and load development.

I get tired of people using myths to cover up their problems.
