I carry condition 2, with a CZ 2075 RAMI 9mm. The hammer is 'half cocked'
SP-01/P-01/RAMI guys will know what I mean.
To the OP. I would bring up to your friend that if you do need your handgun, chances stand your support hand is already busy fending off the aggressor.
That's the most common example I give to people to explain why I carry the way I do.
I gave this example to my friend last night.
"What if there was a frantic man, outside my front door, clearly in agonising pain, calling for help as I was returning from work."
"The right thing to do would call 911 and comfort him. Now imagine this seemingly hurt man springs up after me with a knife, screaming he'll cut me."
"I do not/will not have the time or ability to dedicate two hands to loading/making ready my firearm. It needs to go bang right now, as I sacrifice my support hand for my internal organs sake."
And there are SO many situations that can begin like this, it's easy enough to find one that applies to your friend.
Condition 2 for me

I carry my Uzi Eagle condition 2. It is a single/double action so there is no need to stress the hammer spring.
Hammer spring stress is a myth, keep it cocked 'n' locked and don't worry(if you prefer), the springs are designed to 'set' and still have enough oomph to last more than your life time.
