You have a choice, a Glock 19, XD9 Service or a M&P 9, which would be your 9mm and why. You want it for CCW, range and IDPA.

Of those, I picked the G19 only because I seem to shoot Glocks accurately. I don't carry it much but it is my IDPA gun.

Glock 19

It is all about the reset! Parts availability doesn't hurt either.

They almost all conceal the same way, however I like the Springfield's magazines over the Glock's. Most complain about the Springfield's trigger, no idea why I feel it's also better. Might be silly but I'm also more comfortable holstering a gun with the added grip safety.

All three serve the same purpose and are about equal in quality and accuracy. Personally, I'd go with the M&P (again). I wasn't a fan of the way the XD shot and absolutely hated the grip on the Glock. The M&P shoots just fine for me in IDPA and I can conceal it reasonably well.

This is really a rehashed question, you know. The general consensus every time it comes up is to rent or borrow all three, at the same time if possible, and see which one you like best, because it is all up to personal preference. Some swear by Glock, others by XD, and some by M&P. Then there's the people that chime in telling you to skip the tupperware and get yourself a 1911.

We can give you pointers, opinions, and experience stories, but you'll only be happy after YOU do the research and select one yourself.

I voted XD9, b/c I have one and enjoy shooting it.
I have OCed the XD some around the house. As with any 4" gun it will be lil harder to conceal. But with the right holster it can be done. I just havent ordered a good holster yet.

Whats IDPA stand for?? I know/or can figure out most abbreviations, but some I dont know.

International Defensive Pistol Association.

It's basicly a competition using defensive shooting scenarios and rules that make it even for everyone. It's a pretty good practice for CCW type encounters. Drawing from concealment, engaging multiple targets, using cover, fast reloads, etc.

I'd take the Glock, XD, then the M&P...in that order.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone who's tried all 3 of those and listed the M&P as the least preferable, until now. What factors make you feel the m&p is the least desirable?

I'm shot all three. My personal preference goes G19, S&W M&P, SA XD far last.

Stock for stock, the G19 has the huge advantage of a short trigger reset. The M&P is really one sweet shooter, but I'm more familiar on the Glock platform. The XD feels really top heavy and handles like a car that understeers. It's unusually heavy for a polymer gun.

All are great platforms.

I agree Glock 19 then a Glock 26 then a Glock 17 then the XD & M&P.

IMHO the Glock 19 is the best 9mm made. Reliable, Accurate and practically Indestructible.

+1 G19  I have found it funny over the years that the questions always seem to be..."should I get a Glock or brand X,Y or Z?" Glocks get included for some reason and after owning one & shooting one, I've truely learned to appreciate the G19 ;)

The only gun I've not shot of your pics, is the M&P. I like the Glock trigger better than the XD, and My G19 is slimmer, both great shooters. I have A LNIB XD9 for sale, if your intrested:D

This is a hard poll since I have a XD-9 and it works great. It's accurate and totally dependable and I love how it shoots. My buddy has a Glock 19 and despite how good the XD is, I cant help but feel that I'd rather have his Glock.

I vote Glock.

My wife has a G-19. I've got an XD-9. I like both of them. Can't say I like one better than the other even. I bought the XD-9 first, but for no particular reason.

I've never handled an MP, so I don't have an opinion on it at all. I've read good things about it is about all I can say.

all very good guns.

would go with the glock, then S&W, then XD.

I have a glock 19, and am about to sell my xd9....

When I bought my first XD I loved it. I sold a Glock shortly after buying my second XD.

I have a few buddies who shoot IDPA with M&Ps, and I've borrowed them and shot them extensively (both stock and modified). I wasn't impressed enough to buy one, and I've since purchased three more XDs. :)

Although I have a preference for the XD (obviously), I would be the first to tell you to rent or borrow all threee and pick the one YOU shoot the best.

Sw-mp

I own two XD .45's and they are very good guns. I really like mine. But I also have two SW-MP's --OK I cannot believe they are in last place in this poll:scrutiny:-The MP's ar Awesome:D I have a 9mm and .40 MP they are two of the BEST polymer guns I have Ever Owned:what: The thing that really sets them apart, is the way they shoot and feel. The grip and balance of the gun is perfect. Little felt recoil with the 9mm, and they are as reliable as the XD. The trigger is very good ,The MP is everything a polymer auto-loader should be. Go with the MP:) Sorry Glock fans, nothing against Glock, they are very reliable, but the feel of the gun[angle] is just not right for me.

I have owned them all...all great, reliable guns. Cant go wrong..only one I kept was the Glock.

But I have to with the following order...G19, MP, XD.....but they all come second to a PX4 Storm..check one out!

:)

I owned a G19 traded it away for a CZ75b and never looked back. I really like my CZs and the M&P9 wasn't even on my gun radar... Then I won one at a 3-gun match and can't believe how much I like it. It points naturally, and boy does she shoot. I can't testify to its longevity or how it stacks up against the XD, but for me S&W has a winner. I will be buying another full-size M&P9 as a backup, and to take advantage of their $50 rebate, plus two free magazines. I fear my CZs will be seeing some safe-time for a while.

regards,

Luis Leon

I own an M&P 9 and G 19, tried the XD. For me the M&P feels and shoots best. The G 19 shoots good and anyone can work on a Glock. Both have been absolutely 100% reliable.
