I was at the range last week, shooting my Glock 22, when the guy on the next range noticed me eyeing his pistol and offered to let me shoot it. Didn't seem to have noticably increased felt recoil over the 40 S&W. He said it was a Glock 21, with a KKM barrel (w/ a huge compensator, six side ports and two on top) and .45 Super. He claimed to have hung out with some Delta guys his last trip to Afghanistan. He said that that was what they were shooting, so he made one for himself. It did shoot nice.

My questions abound. With just having met the guy, I had no way of knowing 1) if he had really spent any time around Delta guys, 2) if that is truly what they were shooting, and 3) if that gun was really loaded with .45 Super. He claimed that shooting .45 ACP, the compensator was mostly ineffective, but that with .45 Super, it seemed to largely eliminate muzzle flip. Everyone I have spoken to since has had their doubts. I even wrote to KKM and their reponse was a predictable, "our barrels are the finest blah blah blah, and are capable of shooting 45 Super, but a Glock would not be our first pick..." What does everyone here think? Is there a possibility that the guy was completely truthful? I was all set to make one of these myself until I encountered all the skepticism. Could it work?

1. Delta guys must hang out a lot, because half of the hilljacks that come into the gun shop talk about having a beer with them.

2. Do you honestly think, that Glocks with compensators shooting a hopped up 45 caliber is what we equip Delta with? Lets use the smell test for a quick second.

sniff.

yep... thats crap.

Delta operators get a stipend to have a 1911 custom built to their specs. Doesn't necessarily mean that's what they always use, but I can't envision them carrying Glocks with huge comps hanging off the muzzle. A suppressor maybe, but... I'd take what you heard for what it's worth.

I understand the skepticism, I feel it myself; however, he made the plausible point that they have a pretty free hand in what they carry. As far as what we equip our Special Forces with... we stick the regular troops with a Euro-pellet thrower, a 9mm Beretta! I think I would be looking to upgrade too. If he is telling the truth, this is a no-s**t manstopper. It will push a 230 gr. bullet to 1100 fps with 618 ft-lb. That's 200 fps and 200 ft-lb above .45 ACP.

Also, it was no uglier than any other Glock. The KKM compensator is the same shape and size as the slide, so it merely looks an inch or so longer than a regular G21.

The home of all things .45 Super.

As far as hanging out with DELTA guys goes, posers and wannabes are born every minute. A Navy SEAL once said, "There were 500 active duty SEALs that served in Vietnam, and I have met all 20,000 of them".

To my knowledge DELTA has never issued the Glock 21 in .45 Super.

Just my .02,
