I was finally able to take my month old Glock 26.5 out to the range to let it eat today. I had a glock 33 round mag, 3 Glock 10 rounders, 1 Glock 15 round mag, 3 Amend 2 18 round mags, 1 Magpul 17 round mag, and 1 Magpul 27 round mag in my bag with me.

I am happy to report that the outing was a huge success. I took it straight out of the box, no cleaning or oiling beforehand. It fired all 176 rounds from all the various magazines with no problems.

I thought I was going to have a problem with the slide stop as it was a bit hard to manipulate when just playing with the gun with no ammo in it. However, after the first magazine went through the gun, it operated with zero issues.

This is going to be a great EDC gun! I just need one more trip to the range with some hollow point ammo. If it passes that test, I will have my new EDC gun.

Glad OP is enjoying his G26. I rarely shoot mine these days but I need to get it back out there soon.

I highly recommend the Magpul 12 round magazines. I prefer them to any mag extension or the Glock OEM 12 round mags. Mine have been flawless.

The 26 is a great and very versatile little gun. If I could only have one Glock model, that would be the one.

I like the factory 10 rounders in the gun, as they keep the gun small, and allow me to wrap my pinkie under the grip when I shoot. I get a better grip on the gun without the extensions and I dont get pinched when shooting, something that seemed to happen a lot with the Pierce extensions I tried early on.

I have a bunch of the Magpul mags, including some of the 12 rounders, and they all work well. I actually prefer the Magpul 27 rounders over the factory 33 rounders, as Ive had a number of issues with the factory 33 round mags. Havent run into that with the Magpuls. I use the factory 17 round or one of the Magpul 27 round mags as my reloads with any of the Glocks I use.

Its always amazed me at how well the 26 shoots, and is more like a full size gun than a smaller gun in that respect.

I usually carry mine in a Smart Carry with a 17 reload. Its my favorite holster for the gun.

I also have a Desantis leather ankle holster for it and it works very well too.

Both work best with the factory 10 round mag and no extension.

If you want to go all John Wick, a 26 with a 33 round mag in it, in a Galco Executive shoulder holster works great! With just a light shirt, no one will ever know.

Awesome!

I live in a state where Gen 3 Glocks are legal, but Gen 5 guns are deemed unsafe and thus not. There is a challenge to that law and I am hopeful it will go down.

When it does a Gen 5 26 and 20 or high on my list for additions to the safe.

Congrats on the new gun!

Where do you get them? I have only seen the 17 rounders and above on sites I have been to.

I was amazed at how well I shot with the longer mags in it. The 17, 18, 27, and 33 rounders did not move at all with my gripping them while shooting. I really think I am going to like this 26.

Generally decent prices on Glock mags….

It’s been a couple years since I started shooting my Glock 26 again. I started thinking I needed more than just a J-Frame or Two. A Shield 9 seemed too thin and my XDM with 20 rounds gets cumbersome on active days. I shot the 26 with a13 round mag and a sleeved 15 round mag. I think I’m a little better with the sleeved 15. Shoots fine and carries easy. Nothing better than a Glock in the waist and a J-Frame in the pocket 4875ED67-8FA3-47E6-A401-CB1ECB236D6C.jpeg

So ( I haven't measured mine), but a Glock 26 with a sleeved 15 round mag looks to be the same size as a Glock 19.....just a shorter barrel. I will carry mine with either the 10 round mag with a pinkie extension, or I will get a 12 round OEM or Magpul mag. I will keep the 15 rounder as a backup in my pocket. I have a sleeve ordered for it, but it has not arrived yet.

I keep a 17 round in my pocket. Some days I carry the 13 round mag. It just depends. IMG_0331.png

Another plug for the 12 round magpul magazines. They are only a tiny bit longer than the factory 10 round mags and give just enough extra length to get my pinky on the gun while still being concealable.

Mine isn't a G26, but a G19 with the grip cut to G26 length. The mag on the left is a Magpul. To its right is a factory 10 round mag +2. Also pictured is a factory 15 round, 17 round, a G19X 19 round mag and G18 33 round mags. This makes a very versatile gun.

I had an extra G19 and decided to play. It's ugly, but effective.

I have a 19X already. I wanted a 26 for the magazine interchangeability. I like that it can take all those magazines and be effective with them.

I've mostly carried revolvers. I recently bought a Glock 42 as something small I could carry with better sights than my J-frames. But I had bought a Glock 27 years ago and mostly left it sitting in the closet. Took it out when I went to the range to try the 42...and odd as it seems, I find myself carrying the larger 27 more often now than the 42! Bought a trigger guard for it and hook the string to my belt, then slip the 27 inside the waist of my jeans. Without a large holster, it conceals surprisingly well. The recoil doesn't bother me - not surprising for someone who has a few 357 J-frames - and...it conceals like a champ! I'm starting to think about getting a 26. People are gravitating to the micro-9s but honestly? I shoot better with a bit more to hold in my hand. Not sure I can justify buying a 26 when I already own a 27 but...it would be a great gun!

I had a couple of 42's and 43's when they first came out and they pretty quickly convinced me that the 26 was still the way to go.

Size wasnt that much different between them, and I would carry all of them in the same places using the same type holsters.

The biggest thing is, the 26 has a more familiar grip with the full size guns and you dont give up the mag compatibility with them like you do with the others, and thats what really makes the 26 versatile.

I hear you! I am loving the 26. I was never interested in the 27 because it shoots .40 which is a different caliber that I don't own. However, I have heard that the 27 can be converted to a 26 just by changing out the barrel. You use the same mags. That sounds neat.

Yes sir, the mag compatibility with my 19X was a major reason for getting the 26.

Glock and most all other companies recommend cleaning before the first use> Never know what gremlins might be in the barrel.
Just saying

Your GLOCK pistol should be cleaned and lubricated
as follows:
1. when brand new, before first time it is fired, plus

 WARNING! Before firing your GLOCK pistol, run
a clean patch through the barrel, from the chamber
end, using the cleaning rod. Repeat this procedure
until the patch comes out of the barrel with no gun
oil or lubricant on it because any obstruction in the
barrel could prevent the pistol from firing properly
and result in death or serious personal injury and/or
damage to the pisto

I hear you. It's a little late for that now. It ran perfect and will get cleaned before doing another range trip. I promise.
