i want either a glock 26 or small compact M&P in 9mm for ccw can anyone here give me there opinions on these to guns and which may be better?

For me the G26 but ONLY because I personally have never handled a plastic Smith that worked right and therefore I have a bias against them. I have, however, not handled the new M&P so I am only speaking from my bias. From all reports the M&P is a damn good pistol.

My G26 is ugly, stubby, blocky and just plain works. I am not a GLOCK fan so to speak but they do work very well.

Tough choice

Reliability and accuracy are about equal. The Smith has better hand fit and trigger action. It is a little larger than the Glock, especially in the rather wide slide, but does hold two more rounds (with either the flat-base or finger-extended magazines).

I thought the 12 rd mags were the extended versions in the M&Pc?

I have a G26, which will never leave. Its small, carries 10+1, shoots like a much bigger gun, and is utterly reliable.

I've not yet shot a M&Pc, but if it's anything like my full size M&P, it'll be a great carry gun.

Both hold 12 rounds. In fact, the bodies/tubes of the mags are the same, the only difference being the floorplate, which on the extended version is hollowed out on the bottom.

The G 26 is as dependable as any gun out there, and more so than most...
You can't go wrong with a Glock...I love mine, and it's easily concealed.
Available mags are from 10-33 rounds...depending on whether you're carrying
or wasting ammo at the range...And I AM a Glock guy...I've had most of the models and calibers...can't beat 'em...Good luck...:)

The Glock 26, definitely. I admit to being a Glock Guy, I own most of the currently produced models. My main problem with the Smith is their past history with polymer pistols. The M&P is by all accounts the one where they finally got it right, but hasn't been around long enough for me to buy one, yet. I carry a Glock 30 and my wife a Glock 26 with the Pearce Grip base plates. Ugly, but they work flawlessly.

Try both, both are excellent choices. I own both and love the M&Ps and carry a 40c as my OD/CCW weapon. I also own the G26 and M&P9c and opt to carry the .40 for the simple reason that I simply love my 40c. If you can, try both and then decide.

We can offer any opinion but you'll be the one stuck with the weapon.

M&P, Glock or XD, you can't go wrong in any case. Find out which one fits you best. I have all three and while the M&Ps are my current Favorite full sized guns, I think the Glock Compacts are their best line.

I am not a huge glock fan but have thought about trying their compact line. I have a full size M&P9 and have shot a full size 45 and handled but not shot the M&P9c and can honestly say that I would recomend the M&P.

Glock 26. Many more accessories. Plus, you're buying the original plastic pistol, not it's American or Croatian knock-off.

Not all Glock 26s are perfect, mine didn't like hollowpoint bullets, feed ball with no problems. Solved the problem, sold the Glock and carry a snubby revolver.

I went w/ the m and p..the changable back straps fit my hand better.mine has been 100% right out of the box w/ one exception,a ftf on the 2nd mag.but about 500 rnds now w/ othe issues...but if the g26 fits your hand,it's also an excellent choice.get both.

I have owned both and I prefer the Glock 26 mainly because it has never jammed.

The M&P does have certain things going for it that the Glock does not. It has changeable back straps and better sights (steel novak 3 dot) It also has in my opinion a more comfortable trigger. And a little less felt recoil. Also S&W customer service beats Glock's hands down!

But all that aside I still have a bias for Glock because of the insane toughness and reliability. My first gun was a glock and I use it to judge all other firearms I buy.

But don't let us decide, find out for yourself.

M&P may be the latest and greatest, but my G26 ain't broke and has never fail after thousands of rounds. So I'm happy.

You may feel the same about either the M&P or the Glock, or a Beretta PX4 or an SA XD - they are all around the same size and have good reputations as tupperware guns go. You probably won'g go wrong with any of them.

The M&P isn't as small or short as the Glock, but fits me better and
doesn't feel like it will fly outta my hands like the G26 does.

A M&P is also cheaper than most Glockies.

I like my G26, which I bought used. It does all the things it needs to without much fuss. And it's easy to handle, disassemble and clean.

Try them both, then buy whichever suits your needs best. Then shoot the heck out of it until you are so comfortable that it feels like an extension of yourself.
