Just for anyone reading this in the future-
I have owned a Glock 27 for years and like it alot (although I prefer one of my 1911 style's for carry), but have never carried it conealed due to the size vs. concealability vs. power trade off with any of my .45's. This last week on a tip from a trusted friend, I purchased a Galco ankle glove and broke it in. I do believe my warm weather carry issues are over. This gun/holster combination is totally unnoticeable under todays stylish boot cut jeans and is very comfortable to wear. I went to a friends house who carries also, and we always make a game of figuring out what you're carrying and where, just to hone the technique and after being with him for a couple of hours he commented that he was surprised I wasn't carrying (this after I spotted his sig 229 when his jacket flapped open once). He made the comment after we entered his house and took our jackets off, so I was in a simple pullover shirt that's fairly tight (I'm 6'3" and 265 at 12% body fat, so tight is nice to wear one in a while). I said "not quite" and pulled up my pantleg and took the holster/gun combo off and set it on his table. He tried it on under both jeans and dress pants and is so impressed that he already ordered one for himself.
I'm not big on ankle holsters as a general rule, but in hot weather when it's almost impossible to carry truly concealed while being somewhat accessible, I can see it getting a lot of use. As far as the trade off of .40 from .45, I'm comfortable with that. Being former military and running drug interdiction missions in Germany during the switchover from .45 to 9mm and being involved in a few scrapes, I can tell you that if my choices are 9mm, .40, or .45 to carry, the 9mm will be left at home EVERY time. I don't like returned fire after solid hits on the target. I won't get into the whole "proper bullet placement" argument as that's really an individual issue when under duress, but I draw my choice from multiple real life experiences.
