I remember reading somewhere that the Springfield XD was built from the ground up for the .40 s&w, and 357 sig rounds. I also read that GLOCK has data saying that those two rounds accelerate wear and tear in their weapons, especially the 357 sig. I have owned GLOCKs 31 and 32. The only reason I chose the GLOCKs at that time was because of the tenifer finish. I now hear that Springfield Armory has addressed the problem with the finishes on the XD, and that newer XDs come with a finish very comparable to GLOCK's instead of the old :barf: finish. Anyone know any truth to any of this stuff. If the XDs have a better finish, I most definetely have to have one now!

I'm not a fan of Glock pistols but find it hard to beleive they would put out a pistol that wuold beat itself to death.
One of the writers for Gun&Ammo has put somethinglike 160k rounds of ammo thru his Glock. This same pistol he torture tested did everything you could think of including firing UNDER water with no problems. When the Austrians tested the 9mm not sure if it was a 17 or a 19 they did extensive testing including fireing 100k rounds thru the pistol without stopping and no malfunctions.:what: :what: :what:
I wouldn't take much stock in these tales ie "I know aguy whosebrothers uncle......."
IIRC Glock is one of the few pistols that can handle +P+ ammo on a regular basis

That was a 9x19--NOT a 357 SIG. The Glock 357 SIGs (.40 S&Ws) are not in the same class by long a ways. They have a substantially shorter service lives.

To answer the question, the current production XDs have finish comparable to Glocks.

In my experience, Glock pistols have a very consistent trigger. You pick up a brand new Glock & shoot it, the trigger is identical to one made 10+ years ago. The XD's I've shot have had short crisp triggers or longish triggers...from light to fairly heavy. As shooters tho, both are good guns. As far as durability, Glocks have the history & numbers behind it but w/ the following the XD's are gathering, I'm sure the durability issue will be soon determined.
Honestly, if you can shoot either one until it fails, you've done ALOT of shooting! Get a new gun :D Get the one you prefer & start shooting/training w/ it.

so what if it causes more wear and tear, that is why there is a life time warranty, and great customer service just in case something does go wrong. I am an xd guy and don't much care for glocks, there are alot of things that I prefer about the xd, but alot of it has to do with the fact that it dosen't fit me, i wish they did but they don't. still yet they are fine weapons. and they will both serve you well. i don't know how the new xd finish compares to the glocks, but i haven't had issues with my xd that dosen't have the finish, so I guess a better finish would just make this gun that much more wonderful, i saw no need for it, but others have and i am glad that sa looked out for those customers and gave them what they need.
