I was on starlines website looking at 9mm brass and they had a warning not to use +P loads because of the unsupported chamber. I reload a lot of 9mm in four different pistols one is a shield and one is a glock, never had any problems. I use a mild load nothing near +P loadings. Just thought this was funny since they don't warn about glocks. Has anyone had any issues?

sounds like lawyers dancing in the moonlight, but it is good to be aware and choose accordingly

Always good to be cautious, but I think that warning is for the first gen chambers on the Shields.............................

I was recently testing some brass that we are going to put our headstamp on. I wanted to make sure that they could handle +p+ loads in case somebody tried to do it. Well, from the M&P pro they did great. From the M&P shield the bulge was so bad that the cases were done. It was a pretty hot load of 6.3 grains of BE 86 and a 124 HP that got me 1200 fps from the shield barrel. DO NOT DO THAT.

You can "thank me" for that warning. There is a thread somewhere.
Long story short ,I bought the first version of the Shield
Bought some Hornady Critical DUTY ammo. at the time they used Starline brass due to all the stuff in the economy
I noticed the bulge on the fired brass, contacted Hornady sent them the brass and remaining ammo.
They inspected it and found it was all in spec. After more research it was determined that the Shield barrels were a bit loose
I can not find the emails on it but here are pictures

So there you have it.

Your loads? I wanted to add one of those to my stable with a comp on it...
Yea. A stout load of 800X under 180 gr XTP’s that shoot great out of my G20, G40, S&W 2.0 and Hi-Point carbine, but not the FN. Needless to say, I keep that load away from the FN pistol.

It may or may not be a problem but the "Glock Smile" is a thing in older generations of Glock 9mm's.
"Problem" and "issue" aren't the same thing...as Glock is so quick to point out. Glock has never admitted to problems with the early slide stop notches, early magazines. Gen3 BTF or malfunctions using WML.

9mm smilies weren't an issue because Glock 9mm had such generous chambers that it didn't cause feeding hang ups or resizing issues...at least not ones that the Undersized Lee resizing die wouldn't be able to address

I think we are saying the same thing 😎

They want guns to function for LEOs
I thought it was a sign that they hated us when I started getting brass shot back at me ;)

I became even more convinced when I learned the cause of the BTF...lack of purchase by the extractor after the case cleared the chamber...very irritating

As I’ve started reloading for more pistol calibers, I find myself buying more and more aftermarket barrels with tight, fully supported chambers.

As a result, I’ve also become rather handy at installing semi - fit barrels

Which is why the are so reliable. (no, not a Glock fan) But they do not care about reusing brass in reloads. They want guns to function for LEOs
Glocks are no more reliable than any other modern , upper tier pistol. Maybe even less so with the way they setup their extractors, as @9mmepiphany mentioned.

I like the way HK does their barrels with the stepped chambers. It creates an issue with the cheap steel cased ammo but I only shoot my reloads with brass cases.

I still pickup a lot of Glock bulged brass at the range as of last weekend so there's either alot of old Glocks still running or copies that bulge the brass in a similar manor.
I have a S&W SD40VE that I bought from someone hard up for cash. I put it locked it away because I didn't care for the trigger. I took it out one range outing this summer. The ammo wasn't loaded to max, but every case had a noticeable bulge. I don't know if that is the norm for this model. But it's one less reason to be impressed with said gun.
