....or atleast the best for me;)

Folks,
I'm a dyed in the wool, can't stand to be without one, custom 1911 kinda guy. Seems like I always have a 1911, or a bag of part for a 1911, at some gunsmith being built into my latest dream gun.

I've come to accept it, and actually REALLY ENJOY IT.

Over the years, I've tried almost every other popular handgun platform.....HK, Beretta, CZ, BHP, Ruger,Smith Autos, hell-even wheelguns . ......and of course....GLOCKS. I've always come back to 1911's.

On paper, GLOCKs should be great for me.....durable, tough, simple, rust resistant, lightweight, ect. The little problem is that I can't shoot them worth a darn........ I mean, I go from shooting groups with 1911's, to shooting PATTERNS :uhoh: with GLOCKS. I tried several over the years.......I've had G23's, a G22, a G17, a G19, a G27......and wasn't happy with any of them. So I just went back to 1911's.

Well, I've also been a die hard 10mm fan. So when a chance for a great deal on a G20 came by, I took a chance and picked it up. I was really thinking that I could just play with it a bit with the 10mm ammo I had on hand, and then turn a quick dollar on the good deal I got.

After shooting this G20 for a few months......I'm keeping it:cool: I don't know what it is, but I've just bonded with this gun. I shoot it allot better than I thought I would:confused: I don't know why, but I punch out amazing little groups with it. What a handful......its a great "car gun".....the G20 with a Hi cap and a spare full of Doubletap 180 gold dots[1300fps], you get 31[!] of 41 mag level performance in a very small, carryable package.

Being the "customizer" is a bit frustrating with a GLOCK....I've added Heinie night sights[IHMO the BEST], a 3.5lb connector, and a trigger with an overtravel stop. That is about all I can think to do to this gun[and it really didn't need all that!]. OK, maybe I'll just buy more ammo:scrutiny:

Oh yeah, I've got about 600 rounds through it now, and not even a hint of a malfunction. This is almost tooooo easy......

If any of you good people of THR are looking for a sidearm that is easy to carry, reliable, doesn't rust, is accurate, has a consistant managable trigger, and HITS LIKE THE HAMMER OF THOR, take a look at the G20. Like me, it may change your mind about GLOCKS.

I share your enthusiasm. I have .40 and .357 Sig bbls for it as well. Doesn't malfunction with anything I feed it.

Its the only Glock I would think about buying.

Don't like Glock ergonomics/chamber support/trigger in the least, but I must admit that a G20 with an aftermarket barrel and 15+1 of hot 10mm is quite intriguing.

I know what you're saying about the bonding.
I went through 1911's, Beretta, HK (still have one), S&W, SIG and most of the Glocks over the past 15 years. The Glock 20 has become my favorite firearm of all. The way it handles recoil and the accuracy that is better than any other has made a believer out of me.
I put a set of Bomar adjustables on it and bought a KKM .40s&w barrel.
With .40s&w, the 20 is more accurate and reliable (100%) than a Glock 35 I used to have. No kaboom worries with the Glock 20/KKM combo.
I just put a 357SIG barrel on order. The big 20 should tame the recoil nicely.
Yes, the 20 IS Glocks best pistol.

The G20 is very nice, however I suggest you try a G30. You may fall in love all over again. I have all the current Glocks except the G37. The G30 may well be the nicest shooting Glock. I also like the G17 a lot but the G30 is amazingly easy to shoot well.

Will,
You are 100% correct. Just wait until you try out a Glock 29! All of that power in a concealable package too! It might become addicting.

The G29 is fun to shoot but you get the recoil of a smaller, lighter pistol and you are short changed with less velocity and power because of the shorter barrel. This is also true of the G30 vs the G21 but the G30 is much faster, IMHO, to get back on target than the G29.

I have a G29 but it wouldn't be my first choice for SD because of slower follow up shots.

I've had mine for many years and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's not only very accurate, but has been extremely reliable with a wide range of 10mm bullets and velocities.

The G20's weight-to-capacity ratio (mine is teamed up with several 15rd "pre-ban" mags) makes it the ideal defensive pistol in 10mm.

And mine's still basically stock, except for the Trijicons and a 20lb ISMI recoil spring.

I would have to agree..

out of all my handguns I like my 20 the best. It has the best balance of power, packability (new word?), and pleasure to shoot. I use it more that all my others combined. If I had to go down to one handgun, this is the one I would keep.
