Glock G36 .45 ACP v. Sig P365 XL for Compact Conceled Carry

Quicker follow up shots, more shots on board, in a slightly smaller package.

As much as I like .45 ACP, I'm really leaning more to 9mm in the same size gun. Fer instance, my CZ 75D PCR is just a hair bigger and several ounces heavier than my G36. 14+1 vs. 7+1 with those recently acquired Hyve mags for the Glock.

However, I'm not getting rid of my G36 just yet. :D

Possibly even more interesting...

A better comparison- https://www.handgunhero.com/compare/sig-sauer-p365-xl-vs-glock-g48

I carry a P365 daily with the 12 round mag, which I've shot a lot. My P365 has been very reliable, although it's needed the extractor, extractor spring and recoil spring replaced. Small handguns are hard on springs.

Although on paper, the dimensional differences between the G36 and P365 are small, they are noticeable in use. The P365 w/12 round mag conceals better and is easier for me to grip.

What I suggest you take a close look at is the P365X- https://www.handgunhero.com/compare/glock-g36-vs-sig-sauer-p365x

12 rounds of 9mm beats 6 rounds of 45. With the Magguts conversion, the P365 holds 14.

14 rounds of 9mm gives 6 rounds of 45 a solid drubbing.

Loaded w/ 147 gr. std. pressure HST's, it would be sweet.

Then I think about what kinda jam I must be in to even need the be tactically re-loading the G36...

From various videos on ASP and around it seems 7 rounds go awful fast in actual shootings.

But thanks for the comparison, I'm surprised they are so close in size.

Both are good options.

I have 12 rounds of .45 ACP.

I just choose to store the other half in the spare mag I carry anyway.

A spare 12 round 9mm mag can be carried just as easily. 24 rounds of 9mm trumps 12 rounds of 45.

Size wise the 365 XL makes it pretty close size wise. That is why I chose the standard 365 holding 10 rounds. I have the option of using 12 round mags in my 365 which I sometimes do and usually use one of those as the spare even with 10 round mags in the gun.

And I do like Glocks. But I like 1911's a lot too. At least as a range/target gun. There are better options in the 21st century for a SD pistol. But I'm quite familiar with the 1911 style safety and simply prefer that feature being available on the Sig.

Yeah, but then... most SD shooters use a pistol like a "force field" - they just point it in the general direction and keep pullin' the trigger until the problem goes away.

When your mind-set and training tell you that you have but six and a tactical re-load, things can go differently.

You need an 8 shot 45 that goes PING when the slide locks back.

There is some truth to that.

But then...

Statistically, in a self defense situation? The odds of encountering/drawing/firing more than Six(6) rounds to stop the threat, are about 1/6,000.

...Or, only about 66% greater than the odds of ending up a Highway Fatality that same year. (1/10,000)

Don't be hating now, but I found that the G3c Taurus is an ideal small 9 or a lot of people. It's somewhere between the 36 and 365 XL in size, holds 12 or 15 or 17, whatever mag you go for.

I got the XL grip module for my 365 which helped me shoot it a lot better, but I dont find my G30 SF a hard gun to shoot fast.. My 29 on the other hand..yikes.

Glock 19 is nearly identical in size to the g36. I have both. They fit the same holster.

Yeah, and the very slight thickness increase of the 19 doesn't matter for concealment (or it doesn't with a few even slimmer options) on me, while the extra girth engage my hands better and make for better handling.

I've been really digging my slim HK45c and find myself wishing it was just a bit fatter for shooting, but doesn't matter for carry

Form factor almost identical.

27.56 oz. v. 26.55 oz., all up.

So, an oz. heavier and a bit thicker, w/ half as many .45 ACP rounds in the mag...

... v. 9mm.

GR.

Just the paper measurements don't really describe how small a P365 feels compared to a Glock. The thickness measurement in particular is deceiving, because it's measured at the thickest part of the gun, but the majority of a P365 is much more slender than that. The grip is smaller in every dimension, as is the slide and dust cover and the trigger guard.

Many of course love Glocks, and there's nothing wrong with that - how guns feel and shoot is pretty subjective. But the P365 to me has ergonomics that are light-years ahead of what I was able to get with Glocks, even with having the grips fully customized and textured.

Two points:
1. The Glock G36 vs the SIG P365 XL really is apples vs oranges
2. This really reads like a lightly disguised .45ACP vs. 9mm thread

In my mind, neither of these points are going to go anywhere useful. If this wasn't the intent of the OP and he wants to provide valid reasoning to the contrary, I'll consider reopening this thread
