Hi all
So what is the differance in the differant Gens of Glock pistols? I have an older Mod 19. Am I missing somting by not having the latest and gratest? Or is it only a differance of the finger groves and light rails sort of thing?

Thanks
WB

Your 19 is a GEN2. The only difference between it and a GEN3 are: accessory rail/finger grooves/thumb rests. Your GEN2 is a superb weapon and is sought after by many.

Agreed if I were looking for a Glock 19 I would get the Gen 2. I find that if the finger grooves do not match up to your hand perfectly then the 19 or any Glock feels off in your hands.

Here is a Pic of my gen 3 Glock 19 with my CW9. It's not the clearest picture it was taken with my iPhone but you can compare to what you have.

I like the Gen 2 and 2.5 Glocks more than the Gen 3. I dont know why, but I don't need the light rails, so I think the Gen 2 looks better IMO.

Glock made some gen 2.5 pistols. My friend has a Glock 21 with finger grooves, but no light rail. I wouldn't mind having one of these.

You can determine the generation of a Glock from it's exterior.

Gen 1 = non-RTF with no rail
Gen 2 = RTF with no rail
Gen 2.5 = RTF with finger grooves & no rail
Gen 3 = RTF with finger grooves & rail or RTF2 with finger grooves & rail
Gen 4 = RTF3 with finger grooves, replaceable backstraps & rail

Gen 3 Glocks had minor internal adjustments from the previous generations.
Gen 4 Glocks have additional internal adjustements, use a reversable magazine release system and a dual-recoil system.

OK, dumb question. What is RTF?

From the sound of things it just a cosmetic change between the generations of pistols. Not somthing that would affect funtion and reliablity?

1st and 2nd gen Glock also had a phosphate finish on the slide, 3rd gen uses a teflon-like finish that is shiny and slippery.
My 2nd gen Glock 20.

I'm into the Gen4's myself...have 4 of them so far...sold 4 Gen3's to make room for them...

I like everything about them...

I bought a gen 2 19 for my escorting and I love it. I put hogue grips on it because I like the groove feel, but I don't use lights or other toys so I don't need the rail. I paid $350 for it on gun broker for like new condition.

Yes they are, i know i prolly ruined it by doing it but i think it adds a little show to it. I have a nickel mag release ordered and titanium pins so ill have some more variety to it. it gives it a different look. Do you think it looks bad?
