I hear a lot of people lately complaining about the grip angle on a Glock and I guess I am confused.

See for me the only gun with a better grip angle than a Glock is a Styer M9 or M40 A1.

I find the Glock Grip angle far more comfortable than a 1911 or a Sig. Now don't get me wrong, I own and love 1911s, XDs, etc. But the Glocks just point more naturally.

What I would really like to know is what people find no wrong with the grip angle.

Each person is different. When I shoot a Glock it just feels wrong to me compared to the other auto pistols I have handled. I would guess some other folks have exactly the opposite experience. It's all subjective based on the user. For example a Ruger P89 fits me perfectly and points naturally.

I've never met an individual who without the proper instruction, didn't shoot better with a Glock. I've found many if not all who dislike them to have poor shooting technique's that with the right amount of instruction completely change they're tune! My 2-cents.

For me the Glock is correct in the angle, of the wrist bone area, they are aligned with the forearm.

It is similar to the "Punch" that is delivered with the two large knuckles in your hand, rather than the boxer punch in a glove that is really wrong if you are striking someone barefisted. Little finger area gets broken a lot.

Striking a Makiwara is how to know the difference rather than a speed bag like they show in "Boxing". Striking the bags like you hold the gun is better barehanded.

It is not that confusing if you hit people for a living

Each person is different.
All that needs to be said. When I tried a Glock with my wrist in a natural feeling position, it would be pointed up about 10 degrees. It can also be a combination of weight/balance and grip angle to create the "natural" feel.

Harley, I think you have it right.

I have been involved in Martial arts and my share of fights in my life and perhaps that is why the grip angle is more natural. I kinda suspected something along those lines but it is good to hear someone else think the same way.

Azizza,
If the pistol was heavier as in hang a weight from the front site and feel what happens to the pistol and your grip it would be a better example for others...

fletcher,
What you are saying mimics my thoughts, you are sticking your small finger forward and off setting the strength of your wrist, many think the wrist being in the pinky forward position is right. Not...:what:

Doesn't seem any better or worse then any other pistol I have shot. Different but not a big deal.
Just something for people to complain about I guess.

Glocks fit me fine. Points naturally enough. People's wrists and hands built a bit differently. There's also training and trigger time. With enough practice, anything can feel "natural."

I've never met an individual who without the proper instruction, didn't shoot better with a Glock. I've found many if not all who dislike them to have poor shooting technique's

I'm sorry, are are saying that anyone who doesn't like Glocks has poor shooting technique?

That's a new one one me. Where I can I get training so I too can like Glocks?

I got to admit I have never been comfortable with the Glock grip. Must have been a lifetime of 1911's. I have kept my G17, but it is for the range. And yes, I have had lots of training on all kinds of handguns. I still shoot a 1911 better. For some strange reason I seem to shot a Glock low and left. I do not shoot any other pistol that way, including S&W MP, or SA XD. So may have to do with that grip.

YOUR EXPERIENCE MAY DIFFER.

Glocks & 1911s have a very similar grip angle, the front of both guns are the same. The Glock has the pronounced radius on the back, that fills your palm, and for me, causes it to point slightly higher than my 1911 and CZs. I carry a G23, and when performing draw and fire drills, its perfect for me everytime. Be proficient with what you carry.

+1 JDGray. I've noticed something else thats worth pointing out, the new M&P has just about the exact same grip angle as does the Glock, in fact as I hold one in each hand aside from the obvious differences, they are almost identical in every respect except trigger.

Personally, I can't stand the grip angle of a Glock. That said, I can shoot it fairly well. I much prefer the grip angle of a 1911 type pistol. Doesn't take away the fact that Glock makes a good, reliable pistol. Just that the grip angle isn't for everyone.

TBO, I think the statement that, "those who dislike them have poor shooting technique" is a very sound statement. There are a great many competition shooters who shoot a 1911 or something similar.

The fact that it works for you doesn't mean that everybody else's ideas are wrong.

Azizza: What I would really like to know is what people find no wrong with the grip angle.

I have not found anything wrong with the grip angle on the Glock - it fits my hands great.
The grip angle on the 1911 is not for everyone.

Here is some information on the Glock.

So if you read about it and see the number of variations that are out there in the free world, first thing that has to come to mind is...Why so many:what:

I mean if you look at the 1911 and compare it to the Glock as so many do, you have to wonder why do they want to argue so much when it is obvious it is very popular:confused: How many have been made in the last 20 years :D

My new G19 grip feels great. I really love it. It shoots like a dream. Ijust shot it for the first time yestrday. It seems pretty accurate, but I think I need to get used to it more.

It's my first gun so I'm happy to hear so many people like it.

Glock 19 feels like an extension of my arm. Perfect grip angle. I use a slip on grip to beef up the grip but with that on there its a dream.

I like both the Glock and 1911, but I must admit the Glock "points" better for me. I've never even really had any problem switching between the two like I've heard some people say.

Everyone is different, that's why we have so many different choices in pistols. :)

I find it rather easy adjusting to all grips on every weapon. Fire the weapon for awhile and you just adapt...nice being a human being...eh? Now...trigger reach is a horse of a different color. I have a small hand and short fingers...and find that the Glock is a "perfect" reach for me on that account.

I just measured the difference between a Glock 22 grip is 1.177 thick and 2.099 deep a Les baer TRS with slim grips is 1.104 thick and 2.059 deep. The grip angle is slightly different.

I to disagree with everybody shoots better with a glock.

I have come to (took a while) to like the glocks but still shoot the 1911 better.

I thought when I measured both that there would have been a bigger difference in them.

The glock feels bulky in my hands for some reason. but it still shoots good.

The Glock feels great to me as does the 1911. Some people are adaptable.

the new M&P has just about the exact same grip angle as does the Glock
Categorically and demonstrably not true.

I find it rather easy adjusting to all grips on every weapon. Fire the weapon for awhile and you just adapt...
You may find this to be less appealing if you have a stable of pistols. Switching back and forth can be a very real issue.

Rbernie I've both pistols and have held both and I'm sorry but they are virtually the same, they're right here beside me. I don't mean everyone shoots the glock better, I mean everyone shoots the Glock better after some good instruction.
