Anybody know if the SF models currently available take the same magazines as the regular frame glocks? What I'm really after is, will the new glock 20SF 10mm use the same mags as the current glock 20? If I buy some glock 20 15rd mags, will they likely work in the 20SF when it actually is released? I'm thinking there could be another hi-cap ban before the 20SF goes on sale, as it often takes months or longer from the SHOT show introduction.

If you have an older Glock, any magazine, old or new will work fine. The newer Guns with ambidexterious mag release will only use the newer magazines. I am not exactly up on the newer Glocks but the only one that I know of that this would be an issue on is the G21 SF.

The newer, 4th generation mags have a notch that runs all the way across the front of the mag where the older ones only have a notch on the right side. Glock is offering this feature on all of their magazines even though most do not have an ambidexterious mag release.

Someone will post a picture soon I'm sure.

Ambi-mag release Glocks will only take ambi-mag release magazines (generation 8 magazine). The older FML standard mag release magazines (generations 4-7) can work, but they need to be modified (requires cutting the magazine).

Standard mag release Glocks will take both ambi-mag release magazines (generation 8) and the older standard mag release magazines (generations 1-7).

Currently, there are only 4 Glock models that have the ambi-mag release.
#1. Glock 21SF with picatinny rail & ambi-mag release
#2. Glock 21SF with Glock rail & ambi-mag release
#3. Glock 17MB
#4. Glock 19MB

The new Glock 20SF, 22RTF and 29SF do not have the ambi-mag release.

FYI. There are 8 generations of Glock magazines.

Generations 1-4 = pre-'94 ban
Generations 5-6 = during '94 ban
Generations 7-8 = after '94 ban
