Next Glock?

If they finally come up with the highly desired single stack 9mm, it would render useless the G26, one of their best sellers. Kind of shooting yourself in the foot.

The next Glock will be a revolver. Take a look at this exclusive prototype:

Set up for moon clips!

JK!!!! Fake picture! :neener:
The Soviets came out with first plastic framed pistol and revolver. The revolver was top break service type weapon chambered for .357. It was very interesting and worthwhile design. Perhaps if Glock corp show some employees the door and hired some "young blood" from say Russia we would have something worthwhile coming down the pipe. This repackaging of same product over and over is getting bit long in the tooth by now.:barf:

Good point.

My next Glock will be a G42.
I have one now. Like it so much I ordered anther one.

First of all, the 10mm won't fit in a small frame like the 9mm and .40 do.

Second of all, the market for a long slide 10mm is minuscule.

Thirdly, if the 43 is a single stack 9mm, it won't compete against the G26, but with it. IE; "I found the G26 too fat, so I bought this Shield/XDs instead." vs "Hey, wanna see my new Glock single stack 9?"

Then I guess that makes the Ruger LCR the second plastic framed revolver.

I think the next pistol Glock offers will be a single stack 9mm. what I want them to offer next is a full size in 9x23 and a conversion barrel for .22 TCM. Yeah, yeah I know, almost no one shoots 9x23 or .22 TCM.:banghead:

I wonder did that happen when the m&p shield was released. Did the m&p9c/40c lose some thunder? I think some people sacrifice capacity for size and vice versa. I like to have more options but I can see the business side of this. The single stack should have came out first IMHO then those who wanted more capacity could go with the 26/27

The PPS has been out for about 6 years now. S&W didn't really give us anything and Glock isn't going to make anything of significance either.

I'm probably in the minority of Glock owners but I bought a G42 and love it and will not trade my G26 for a single stack 9mm Glock. I really like my G26 and won't give up the capacity to get a thinner grip as I don't need that.

I don't see me buying any more Glock until the ones I have are worn out or destroyed/stolen and then I'd buy exact replacements...the only thing I might add to the line up would be a double stack .32 roughly the size of the G26/G42 but that'll never happen. Or a Glock with an external safety.

VooDoo

single stack nine in the next year or two. i'd bet my paycheck.....at least what's left after taxes.

not only to shine all you "gotta have a single stack 9mm" groupies, I vote for a single stack 45 acp to rival the XDS. I think that would be the pretty boss. And after maybe they will work on your 9mm :neener:

I could see Glock doing just that. The Glock 40 will be a single stack .40, the G43 and 44 single stack 9 and .45.

Looking at pictures of the frame of the Glock 42, I noticed that the slide release is on a shelf that makes the frame just a bit thicker than it really needs to be. It could be that Glock finally figured out that "hey, the frame is just injection molded plastic anyway, so we can mold a frame for a single model but keep the internals common among several models."

They could mold a 9mm and .40 frame that is just a bit longer in the grip area to accomodate the slightly longer cartridge and magazine, and mold a grip that is slightly wider and longer (than the 42) to accomodate the .45. The trigger group and controls would be common among all three. When designing the 42, they made just a bit more room for the trigger bar and slide stop to accomodate a .45 in the future, hence the "shelf" in the .380 version.

Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?

G36 is a single stack 45, right?

There are 2 plausible arguments for why Glock will not release the 9mm version of the Glock 42.

First, releasing the 9mm version of a single-stack, super compact version of the Glock 42 can be thought of as a sort of sales "Trump Card." Who is to say that Glock sales will not take a plummett downward sometime in the future? Several gun manufacturers and companies are beginning to replicate the Glock-style, striker-fired internals and designs. With the increase in these Glock knock-offs, Glock may begin to see a drop in sales and revenue. They may have to cut costs in materials and production. If such a scenario happens, introducing such a pistol would help boost their sales and earnings.

The other part of that argument could possibly be that introducing such a gun is probably a great move for Glock and the earnings would be staggering. Sales would skyrocket and Glock would make a fortune for a long time to come. I personally think that Glock releasing a single-stack, compact 9mm is a great business move, but their marketing department may have other ulterior motives.

Like I said, this is just my opinion. Other companies have waited too late until releasing good products when they should have released them sooner, thus committing corporate suicide by waiting to use their "Trump Cards" at the last minute.

As much as I love a trusty g19, those knuckleheads are about 8+ years behind on what the American market wants. It reminds me of colt's laziness and relying on military/LEO sales...it nearly bit them on the rear when they woke up behind the curve. The American consumer market clearly wanted single stack 9/40 pistols. Even remington is bringing a completely new (new as in needing new manufacturing equipment, not new design) single stack to market.
