Glock vs SA XD

XD-45 in a .45. Isn't a Glock fan calling an XD kind of like the proverbial pot calling the kettle black? :neener:

Glocks are great guns. Actually they are damn near perfect for their intended use.

XDs, for me, have been just as reliable, have better triggers and are a bit safer, especially when holstering. I also much prefer the SIG style take down that requires one to lock the slide back. Does any of this make the XD the BETTER gun? Not really just better for ME.

They both shoot, they both have excellent finishes (Now), They both cost about the same, they are both reliable etc. etc. etc. Pick the one that is more comfortable.

It all depends on personal preference. Either find a range that rents guns or find friends with both and try before you buy. They are equally well-made guns, but feel totally different from each other.

I went Glock

Picked up my first Glock ever about 6 hours ago - a G33. I figure if I'm gonna get a funky-lookin plastic gun with a doo-hickey on the trigger, it might as well be the original. :neener:

I'm sticking with the Glock format. I went out and bought one of the newer XD .45acp compacts just to give the XD thing a try. I was happy to see a shorter grip with the full 4" barrel slide...easier to conceal, enough barrel to keep the fps up there. But nope, for me it's just wrong. Maybe too many years of using Glocks. It's got way too many little doodads and widgets inside. The Glock is simple, parts are easy to get, etc.

My personal experience has been better with Glocks. Reliability has definitely been better with my Glocks. I do like the feel of the XD, but that's not to say that I don't like the feel of a Glock. I don't like the fact that the XD is not completely serviceable as easily as a Glock. I can do anything that needs to be done to a Glock, and get the parts with no hassle. Not so with the XD. I don't want a gun that has to be sent off to the factory for simple repairs.

Glock, I hate grip safeties. Even a lot of 1911 users hated the grip safety up until the literatures times it was common to pin the grip safety.

The 40 S&W was/is just a snappy recoil way to equal the 45acp. I’ll take a 45acp every time over a 40S&W, but I carry a Glock 26 every day and time I leave the house.

Glock or XD ?

At my job, we are currently turning in our Glock 17's for H&K P2000's :D . I have had experience with the XD in 9mm & .45 and I have to say that if it was between a Glock and an XD, I'd go for the XD. I prefer the extra safety features that the XD has and I like the way it feels in my hand. I feel the XD has better balance than my G-17. Just my .02 !
