Is a palm size group with a semi auto handgun good or bad
at 25 yards?
With my .22 I consider it poor.
With anything else I consider it ok.
Is this average or other?
I'm talking full clip/cylinder 6-15 rounds depending on handgun.
Just want to know. Some of the guys I shoot with can do this with a snuppy , I can't.

Since the human heart is about the size of your fist a palm size grouping at 25 yrds I would consider good.

From a "mil-spec" 45 that grouping would be great, from a match grade pistol something would be very wrong. Groups like that are good enough to get the job done in most real world (HD, SD, hunting) situations. In a Bullseye event it would be something that needs work. Helps to know what kind of pistol and event to really judge good or bad. For me a group that size at that distance would be something to be happy about regardless of the gun/event.

You also need to state how fast the grouping was fired.

Was it fixed, slow/aimed or rapidfire?

Actually, it's pretty good -especially from a snubby.

What's a "snuppy"?;)

If I am shooting in a combat, rapid fire, at silouett targets, a palm sized group at 25 yards is fine. Actually better than fine.

If I am load testing, or just target shooting it is terrible. Most guns are mechanicly capable of doing much better than that with good ammo at 25 yards.

It just depends on what you are doing with it.

It'd be pretty good shooting for me today, but I think a lot depends on your frame of reference.

In the slow fire portion of a bullseye match, it wouldn't be very good; in a life or death situation, however, it would be very good.

Yes, it is a good grouping, especially considering that a defensive shooting usually takes place at less than 7 yards.

Ditto. Slow fire, SA, benchrest: Marginal to poor.
Rapid fire, DA, moving to cover: OUTSTANDING.

If offhand and reasonably quick, it's certainly combat-effective shooting! If slow paced fire with an accurate piece, better has been done.

If you have friends that can shoot a snubby offhand into 5", quickly, you've got some impressive friends.
