Don't come to Florida. We're full.

Not only are we full, I going to propose an amendment to the Florida Constitution to ship transplants back up north if they;

1. Complain about the heat
2, Complain about the weather/huricanes
3. Say anything close to "You can't get good (insert food name here) like you can in New York

I'll echo Werewolf's post on Oklahoma.

I am a native Oklahoman, been here for 46 yrs. Everything he said is right on the money.

Two major cities, OKC and Tulsa. Tulsa is in the NE portion of the state and has more rolling hills, trees and lakes nearby.

As far as hunting, it's a great state for it.............

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation owns or manages approximately 880,000 acres. These areas are intensively managed to produce quality habitat and high production of a variety of species. Many of these areas are open to all types of hunting, and most are open to at least limited hunting. Maps and descriptions of all these areas are included in the “Public Hunting Lands of Oklahoma.” In addition, more than a 1,000,000 acres in the Ouachita National Forest and Weyerhaeuser Company timber lands in southeastern Oklahoma are open to the public.

A few facts........

* Oklahoma has roughly 160 public lakes, numerous rivers and countless farm ponds.

* Oklahoma has more shoreline than Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes.

* It has more shoreline that the East Coast and Gulf of Mexico combined.

* The third largest man made lake in the world is in Oklahoma. Second largest in the U.S.

* 176 species of fish. The following are some favorites.

Fish Species:

Crappie----Redear Sunfish
Blue Catfish----Spotted Bass
Bluegill----Striped Bass Hybrid
Brown Trout----Saugeye
Channel Catfish----Smallmouth Bass
Flathead Catfish----Striped Bass
Largemouth Bass----Walleye
Rainbow Trout----White Bass

Hunting species:

Upland Game......EASTERN TURKEY, RIO GRANDE TURKEY, QUAIL AND PHEASANT.

Big Game......WHITETAIL DEER, MULE DEER AND ELK.

Migratory Game Birds......DUCKS, GEESE, TEAL, WOODCOCK, DOVE (morning and white wing), SNIPE, RAIL AND SANDHILL CRANE.

Small game......RED SQUIRREL, GREY SQUIRREL, COTTONTAIL RABBIT, JACKRABBIT AND SWAMP RABBIT.

Hogs......FERAL HOGS, RUSSIAN AND EUROPEAN WILD BOAR.

Furbearer......BOBCAT, COYOTE, GREY FOX, RACCOON, BADGER, MINK, MUSKRAT, OPOSSUM, WEASEL, BEAVER, NUTRIA AND STRIPED SKUNK. Closed year round are...BLACK BEAR, MOUNTAIN LION, RED FOX, RIVER OTTER, SWIFT FOX, SPOTTED SKUNK AND RINGTAIL.

I have traveled all over the USA and although there are many states with excellent areas to live, I have chosen to stay here with all there is to offer.

GT-

Don't lump NH and Maine in with CT et. al. thank you. :D

NH-
No sales tax
No income tax
Instant background check for gun purchases
No gun registration
Shall Issue CCW (can't remember price anymore $10-$15 good for 5 years)
Right of tresspass i.e. isn't posted = can hunt without permission. Good idea to ask.

Sounds like Missouri to me! But you will run across a trailer park or too. But then again, where wouldn't you? We have lots of public hunting land, liberal limits and a huge whitetail herd along with bunches of turkey.

What am I saying? Stay Away!

OK, OK, Come to CA

I live in Kern County. A couple of years ago you coulda bought for $150K, but housing is going up. Now figure on about $225K for a decent 3br w/gar etc.

I have a CCW, I hunt upland game birds, deer, pigs, ground and tree squirrels, misc. varmints, etc...... all a short driving distance on public land. I could probably shoot out my back door if I moved about 5 miles. I can be at the coast deep sea fishing within a couple hours. We have a really great outdoor range 25 miles out of town and an indoor range at one of our gun stores. Kern County has issued more CCW's than any of the other 57 counties in the state.

Colorado is good, so long as you arent racist. There are a large amount of mexicasn/hispanics here.

We have some 'rainbow flags' but mostly in the cities.

The best place to live in America?

How about "the past", the future doesn't seem to hold the promise that it once did. I weep for this country.
