I'm only 22 and eventually intend to move, well...where every I darn well please...Hopefully.

Any how, what big cities have the most lax gun laws? Apparently Arizona has no permits for concealed carry guns?

I don't really know many gun laws other than my own states.

Things I would prefer to have and still reside in a big city:
Open Carry
Concealed Carry (can be regulated by permits if that's what they do)
Can own long guns and hunt
Can own "assault weapons"
No capacity laws
and anything that has better NFA laws is cool, but not 100% necessary.

So, where would you're ideal place be to live, while loving your guns?

Anchorage, Alaska you can conceal carry without a permit, and everything els your looking for and a big city.Oregon and Arizona are good choices too.

Texas would be a gun owners' paradise... if for some dumb-ass reason Open Carry wasn't illegal. I prefer concealed carry anyway, for the element of surprise, so that doesn't really bother me, but it doesn't make any sense.

CCW, NFA, everything else is legal, and the economy here is pretty good to boot.

In the minds of many people in the United States, and maybe the world?

Texas

To us that know better?
Eh, Arizona in my opinion.

Edit: Not saying that Texas has bad laws, because we don't. Just saying they are not the best. :)

I love Florida! Gun ownership is considered a "right" not it be interefered with by the State but in the smallest way for public safety. The U.S.'s first "shall issue" CCW State! OK, Vermont and Alaska are a bit better in some ways but they are frozen over most of the year. Of course I am a refuge from New York State wher I had to "contribute" to a local judge's re-election campaign to insure the issue of my carry permit.

You can certainly do all of that in TN. MS, LA, and GA are all similar to TN, but I'm not sure of their exact specifics.

If you're really shooting for a BIG city, New Orleans and ATL are probably you're best bet for a decent place to live, lax laws and decent hunting. I'm from NOLA and no matter what everybody else says, it's the best city in the US. In all the time I was there I never had any sort of crime inflicted upon me. And it's a perfect city for 20-somethings.

Pa is a fantastic place to live. Open carry OK, concealed carry anywhere except courthose and fed buildings. No ownership restrictions. Been allowed to carry in resturants and bars since 1989.

Idaho isnt too shabby. In the Treasure Valley, its a ~600,000 populated metropolitan area. Youre 30 minutes away from desert in one direction and 45 minutes away from forest in the other

NFA weapons are all legal(supressors, MG's, SBR's)

Conceal carry is legal w/out a permit when youre outside city limits

shall issue State

open carry is legal inside and outside city limits

State statutes say cities or counties cant pass regulations that go against/disregard State law

conceal carry is legal in establishments that serve alcohol(restraunts, pool houses, bars, etc)

Very lax firearm regulations for hunting big game(no minimum size caliber just has to be centerfire, no magazine capacity limitation) to top of some of the best hunting/fishing/outdoor recreation in the lower 48

Laws that say people found not guilty of justifiable homicide(self defense) are immune from civil law suits

firearms arent registered and private party sales are legal

EDIT: Idaho also accepts every States CCW permit and a hunter education course is the bare minimum to obtain an Idaho CCW permit.

Colorado is pretty awesome.

They issue CCW if you're a resident.

Open carry is legal.

Can carry in bars.

Deer and elk capital of America.

Most people here are very open-minded when it comes to firearms.

Your CCW lisence also applies to AK, AL, AR, AZ, DE, FL, GA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MO, MS, MT, NH, NC, ND, NE, NM, OK, PA, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, WY

Idaho, for me. When we moved from Calif., twelve years ago we could have moved anywhere we wanted. We chose Idaho. Have not regretted it for one moment.

I don't like the city so living in Colorado and staying out of Denver suit me fine, when I have to go I just switch over to those 10 rd mags I kept of pack a 1911. The rest of the state is real cool with guns.

I live here in Virginia Beach, VA/Hampton Roads and the laws are good to go with, for the most part, well-informed LEO who give props to citizens who exercise their right-to-carry, open or CCW. NFA is good to go as well. In VB alone we have 3 different indoor ranges and at least 15 in the general area, including one outdoor range with long range shooting, clays, dynamic pistol/rifle ranges. Our new governor is signing a lot of pro-2A bills into law, as well.

Hmm. Didn't really consider VB.

I love Colorado, and go there in the winters to ski, But I don't think it'd quite be my favorite permanent living situation. Denver is a big city, but I'm thinking cities more like Chicago or NYC like, with out the gun laws.

Alaska or the mountain states. With Or, Wa, AZ and the like you have major culture wars and conflicts between the urban and rural areas. Your local area may be great but you're often stuck with a legislature periodically dominated by the left. Or in the case of Or and Wa, one almost always dominated by the left. Texas has idiotic open carry restrictions. In a state such as Alaska, Montana or Idaho the gun issues are just less of a big deal politically and not such a pawn in the political battles.

You might also factor into the equation the laws regarding self defense. Here in NY, in addition to foolish laws designed to protect criminals, we have laws the limit your rights to defend yourself. You must be very thorough in you ability to articulate that you life was in immediate danger and you had no avenue to retreat from the situation. Defending others and certainly defending property has no standing in our Empire State.

Listening to you guys talk about the laws in your states makes me yearn for life in a part of our nation where people are free. Congratulations to you citizens who have been successful in maintaining your individual rights. Here in NY we have not. Remain diligent. It could happen to you.

 as soon as the new ccw law takes effect, in about 90 days, if you are allowed to buy a gun, you can carry openly or ccw with no issues, or license, except if you want to ccw in a bar or a restaurant that serves alcohol. here in arizona we believe that gun control is how many you can get into the 10 ring.:D:D

by the way a ccw permit is still available if you want to carry concealed in other states that have a reciprocity agreement with arizona.
