Best place to live with guns.

Indiana...born and raised in Indianapolis (13th largest city). Good lax gun laws. CC in bars (no drink). OC allowed. The winters can be extremely brutal

North Carolina...currently live in Charlotte (one of the fastest growing cities in America). Decent gun laws. Required to take an 8hr class to get your CCW. OC allowed without permit. In Charlotte, I am 3 hours from the mountains and 3 hours from the beach (Atlantic Ocean). I'm married, but if I was a single guy, I would be in Charlotte or Atlanta

Kentucky...went to college there. Gun laws are good (for gun carriers). Not a lot of options for "big city living" besides Louisville (which is only considered as large as it is because the city has annexed all of Jefferson county)

Tennessee...lots of family there. Almost moved there instead of Charlotte. Decent gun laws. Nashville is a fun city...another "young man's paradise". Memphis is a great place to party, but I wouldn't want to live there.

Missouri...ehhh, not bad. Gun laws are excellent, but St Louis has seen better days. I'm not a big fan of Kansas City

Texas...besides the OC law, they aren't bad. Depending on where you live, it can get ridiculously hot or cold.

Even though I have been carrying a gun for longer than most for protection, almost 40 years now, licensed, I would love to live in a place where no one had one. Because no one needed to have one.

Texas.

OP says he wants a city like Chicago or NYC without the strict gun laws? Why do you choose 2 of the most yucky liberal cities where Unions and Unemployment run rampant? No offense to anyone, but cities like that I personally avoid like the plague. No good imo comes from cities like that. (will add in Detroit, San Fracisco, LA, and Boston to that list of like cities you will never find me)

Another vote for KY. You can buy a gun from a dealer and walk out the door in ten minutes if you have your CCW.

KyJoe, welcome! :D (That may be late. You might have been here for 30 years.)

If your dealer takes ten minutes to do the paperwork with your CCW, he's moving s.l.o.w. ;)

I don't know what you do for a living. But where ever you go make sure you can get a job. It would flat out suck to move somewhere and not be able to afford any of the guns you made your move to be able to get.

Man...that's profound...Amen & +1 to that....:)

NOT MARYLAND!!!!!! ... but half a mile up the road from my house there lies a land of firearm freedom, PA ... oh and our neighbors WV and VA arent that bad on the gun laws either, MD laws just suck, d*mn gun grabbin liberals

I would vote for New Mexico.

NM is very gun friendly and it's beautiful State. Most important we have a decent economy and we have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country right now. NM really feels like a country within a country it's a very unique place to live. I love Arizona as well and lived there for about eight years, however I would pick NM over AZ and I eventually did.

Please son, don't make the mistake I did. Joined the Military (not the mistake) and ended up in Hellafornia. I was born and raised in Missouri and think the firearms laws there are better than average. Each year it seems the laws in California get more restrictive while the laws in the great state of Arizona tend to get better. If not for my children and Grandkids being here I would have moved out years before now.

That said, Guess who is moving and where?

That's right Arizona here we come. The wifey and self first with the kiddos and their chillens next.

i was told you couldn't have a handgun in your vehicle in texas, not counting ccw and permit im guessing. is this true?

ND isn't too bad either - We dont have the best laws (restrictions on bars and gaming establishments) But we do have open carry(Not seen alot) and the permits are easy to get - Alot of people are getting CCW - its become quite common.

There's a pretty big gun culture here. Its an old fashioned mindsent with alot of smaller towns - tons and tons of hunting and most people in the state are used to that - It's a good atmosphere for people who like guns -There's alot less people which is why I stay in the state. People are friendly and our crime rates are low. The winters can be a little harsh, but so can the winters in other states. Our summers are usually nice and we get alot of days in the upper 90's etc - Its a nice variety. Plus the economy is doing quite well right now. And no...The movie Fargo does not do a good job depicting either us or those in MN. (good movie though)

Just a thought - good luck on your decision

Texas is not OC at this time but we are pushing for it. Businesses don't seem to ever post the correct sign required by law about CCW on the premises so I personally ignore them. You can carry anytime in your car also as long as its not visible.

Considering some other issues AZ has done right lately, I'd pick AZ over Texas. But we're moving along pretty well since we got the Castle law passed! ;)

I'm with you 100% I carry regularly in places that don't even come close to posting properly. I figure that if they're not even competent enough to post a standard government issued sign, then I'm not trusting my life to their security measures.
