you can eat skunkWhere ever possible, I kill skunks on sight.
I used to have a Siberian Wolf/German Shepherd cross that, along with his hunting pack, took care of all of the skunks that entered his territory.
The pack consisted of him, a seal-point Siamese that acted as bait and a three-legged peke-a-pom that had no apparent sense of smell.
The Siamese would stroll along making "I'm lost and alone" noises until the skunk would close to attack, the peke-a-pom would distract the skunk (and often get sprayed) and the wolf dog would pounce, kill and eat.
Saved me a number of bullets and bags of dog food.

well someone tried it and they said the heart was not stankyOnly you
you would be a good Alaskan puddle jumper pilot.I did, no flights today.
Hydrogen peroxide, water, baking soda and Dawn dish liquid will completely rid your dog of stink. Tomato juice is not nearly as effective.
I been Stock piling Hydrogen Proxide^^^This. My recipe is the industry standard and it works well. Thank God Pointers ain't nearly as vulnerable as flushers or hounds!
- ¼ cup of baking soda.
- 1-2 teaspoons of mild dishwashing detergent like Dawn.
- 1 quart of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide solution.
- Mix in a bucket and use immediately.
- Work the foaming mixture well into the coat.
- Leave on for five minutes.
- Rinse with warm water.
- Follow with dog shampoo if desired.

Kind of odd, I didn’t realize a “rattle” paint can was something that attracted skunk’s.

I think a soaking after carful cleaning in Alcohol 50% proof, blender 1 onion, 1/2 a cup of apple cider vinegar. 10-20 day soak, that should do itJust about everything tastes goo with the right seasonings. One word of caution with skunks. You have to be extra careful when cleaning them so that you don't bust open their scent glands. That will definitely ruin the meat. I suggest cooking them like possum and raccoon on a grill. All three are pretty tasty when shredded and allowed to soak in BBQ sauce or any of your favorite sauces.
Don’t like snakes! that would definitely stop my range session for a few minutes until I shoot them deadNo, none around our area. Copperheads and water moccasins are all you come across that are “bad ones”.
Of course they are! My grandfather used to collect rattlers alive in pillow cases. Would pick them up bare handed and never got bit once. Insisted they won't bite if your not afraid. Hed sell them for meat. Now big rattlers are good eating too.
@jmorris I don't blame you for stopping to let them pole cats pass through. There's not much worse that getting sprayed by one.
