Got "made?" or at least suspected?

Anybody here who is carrying, ever get "made" or at least someone look suspiciously at you when you were carrying CCW?

At my office, my new boss (he is an ex-police officer) looked at my blue jeans pocket one day on dress-down Friday. He didn't say anything until weeks later when...as a pretense, asked me what I had in that pocket.

To which I pulled out a big hunk of keys out of my pocket in response to his question. On my key ring I have a big "church key" attached to it to cover up my PM9. He took one look and said "Oh." and never checked again.

BTW I have a thin wallet with my I.D. between my PM9 and the keys to prevent scratching the surface of the pistol.

Anybody else get "made?"
 
I am pretty careful to keep it concealed, but I was made once by...a parking attendant!

Front pocket carry...he must have seen the stainless steel grip from behind bby chance.

The guy was cool, though, and said to be careful. I told him I was legal & not to worry.
 
I was over at my mom's the other day visiting. I was wearing my Vertec in a Yaqui slide holster @ 4:00. I leaned over to pick the paper up and my mom asked what that big lump was above my hip. I told her it was my cell phone.
 
I always "noon" carry - just most people don't consider it a dangerous weapon...

Recently, while carrying a snubby in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster in a rear pocket, a co-worker said he could see my gun. I reached back and it was deep in my 5.11's, so I knew it must be printing. So I asked him why he was paying to much attention to my @ss.
He said, "because you have such a nice one for an old man."

Wasn't sure if I'd been complimented, insulted, or what, so I quickly let that conversation drop.

I also bought a De Santis Nemesis that afternoon.
 
Not yet, and I hope it doesn't happen as I frequent casinos. They don't post "No CCW" signs, but they don't like it either and will ask you to leave.

I was made once by a police officer. I was riding my motorcycle with my Makarov in my Uncle Mikes cheapo rig. The cop pulled me over and after checking CCW and registration told me that I might want to find a better way to cover it.
My riding jacket (at that time, I've got a new one) tended to pull up and towards the front and exposed the gun.
I've since aquired a Falco shoulder rig and a new riding jacket. No one sees anything now.
 
I was in a gas station in line to pay for my drink. One of my buddies was a few people back and there was a deputy somewhere inbetween. My friend said he kept looking at the small of my back. I think I had a light shirt on and he could see something. Most likely just a bit of the grip lightly bulging my shirt.


Another time, when I was driving across Florida, I was pulled over by a couple of deputies. I was carrying and it wasn't long after I received my permit. I was wondering how it was going to work out because we discussed the options in class. After receiving all my information, he asked me where my accent was from. Lol, thinking back on it reminds me of that Allen Jackson song. Anyway, I told him I was from Kentucky. I know he was thinking I didn't look the part and was probably wondering if I was putting him on. He asked me if I listened to country, and of course I answered affirmatively. The next question was, "Really? Who are your favorites?" After dropping a few names he had me get out and go through the back of my pickup. Another patrol car rolled up and the deputy got out and they discussed the situation. Then they decided to make me prove I liked country, by making me sing a song or get a ticket. I was nervously laughing my ass off at my luck while my .45 jiggled on my belt. Of course I took them up on the offer and gave them the best rendition of "Ocean Front Property" by George Strait.

After that I didn't worry about packing around any LEOs. My experience is that they wouldn't typically think you carry and/or if they did they wouldn't ask. I would think it is a combination of what you look like and not wanting to deal with someone able to wield the same amount of force/power.

I'm probably going to get laughed at for this, but I have used a fanny pack since 1995, and never had anyone ask if I was carrying.

When NC passed our CCH law, I bought an Uncle Mike's fanny pack, and started wearing it, months before the law went into effect. Nearly everything that had been in my pockets went into the fanny pack, then, when the permits became effective, so did the 1911.

I switched to Bagmasters Ambidextrous pack (the pistol compartment stays closed better, longer. Uncle Mikes uses a weak Velcro that gets dirty and stops holding after a year)

The pistol doesn't print, that I can see, and it works well for the car and sitting down in the house. My normal attire is golf shirt and shorts or trousers, and an IWB just didn't seem to work right. When I'm dressed up fancy, I'm going somewhere that carry isn't allowed, anyway (but we're working on that here in NC)

One thing that helps (or at least, I'd like to think it helps) is that I ALWAYS wear the fanny pack(except for the fancy situation above). Sort of 'urban camoflage' if you will. The folks that see me frequently don't wonder why I sometimes wear it, and sometimes not.
 
Two weekends ago we were in STL. I was going to buy some pants. When I got out of the truck I took just a second to take my IWB off and lock my snubby in a car safe. As I turned to walk to the store, a salesman was taking a smoke break and watched the whole thing.

As it turned out, he was working the register when I came up to pay. Didn't say a word, and he was real cordial, but I had a funny feeling.

Other than this "on purpose" time, never had anything happen and I carry every where I can and some that I can't. Only been doing it for six months or so, and I feel that sooner or later my number will come up.

Tonight we are going into STL for the Cardinal playoff game, and I will carry every where except the stadium. We will be parking at a bar, and the owner is a good friend. He locks my pistol in his safe while we go to games, and he drives us over to the stadium and picks us up after the game. GO CARDS!
 
I got made at the Men's Wherehouse, I was being fitted for a new jacket and forgot to take my CCW off and leave it in the car. Guy was padding the jacket down doing his mesurment thing stoped at the gun, looked at me and said "have something under there?", I smiled winked and said "yep", he chuckled and went on abought his work.
 
Guy I work suspected something but only because he knows I carry and so does he. He noticed my Security Six under a cover shirt. No big deal. He only saw it because he was looking for it. It was the first day I had carried a full size firearm since last winter. I made it through the summer unnoticed with a S&W m36 and a SW99 compact.:D

They're very cool about this. I had to get a suit there a couple of years back (Town Center location, Georgia). I told the fitter that I'd need the waist about a size loose. His response was, "Do you have the holster with you? It'd be easier to get an idea with it on." Wow.

I was made one other time, by a Fulton Co. marshall in a convenience store. All he said was, "Hey, you're bulging, there." Oops. Pulled my jacket down, and he asked what I carried, which ended up in a very long conversation about the relative merits of SA vs. DA triggers :)
 
I will say that my doctor thinks my weight always bounces up or down 4 pounds - sometimes I carry but sometimes I haven't in there. Everytime my weight is 4 pounds off from the last visit I just smile and go in. :)
 
Three weeks ago I was in a wedding. You should have seen the look on the bridesmaids face when she grabbed for some ass and got a handfull of .45 instead. She has since called me everyday...
 
Thanks for the link Shovelhead. That would be a lot quicker than unpacking and re-packing my various riding jackets. I can't really tell any differance between the old and the new other than the new includes a belt and has a slightly differant layout.

I haven't been "made" but I have made several people over the years. Which at the time the states I was in didn't have CCW. They weren't causing trouble or acting strangely so I didn't raise any alarms. I'm sure they were probably carrying legally as PIs or off-duty officers.

That's pretty funny :)

I've never been 'made' that I know of. I also have never 'made' anyone else, except this one guy I was sure was packing. Older guy sat down in a booth near us in a restaurant. Heavy-looking fanny pack, sat facing the door and was just kind of very...aware. Aware of his surroundings. Looked like classic Condition Yellow behavior to me coupled with the obviously heavy fanny pack carried in front.

If he'd had a folder clipped to his pocket I would have been 100% sure.

iv'e never been made here in MN by strangers, i have been by family and friends that know its there.

I dont think it matters much here anyhow, we have a new ccw law that alows open carry, i cover it up so i dont have to answer a lot of questions.

I dress neatly and most folks just assume that im a cop, if the spot it i just smile and tell them im one of the good guys
