Shot my new GP100 today for the first time. All I gotta say is WOW! The DA on it is so smooth I had no idea I could enjoy shooting DA so much. I can't believe how accurate it is and how fun it is too shoot. I will post pics later when my wife gets home with the digital.

Best value out there, no doubt about it. The GP-100 is my top go to gun for darn near anything.

I got it at Renaissance Firearms in Rochester, NH. It's actually in Gonic, but it falls under Rochester. The guys there are great. Here are pics from shooting today. First target is one-handed and the second one is two-handed. Both targets were set at 20 yards. I was shooting .38Sp only. I am thinking about picking up another GP100 with the 6" barrel and the blued finish.

After seeing your post, I had to handle mine tonight and dryfire it a bit. It was my first gun and my only wheelie (so far!). My semi-autos have been getting too much attention. What a great handling and accurate friend the GP100 is. It just feels so good in your hand. Great choice!! You will enjoy it for a lifetime.
You made an excellent decision.

It was $495, which was the same price as KTP. I did not see any more, but I am sure he can get one in no time. I have purchased way too many guns there lately.:D I would rather buy at Renaissance than go to KTP and wait for hours to get some help and then have to wait for the transfer. I was really disappointed at the service I got at KTP the last time I was there.

I picked up my Stainless GP100 with adj. sights some 10 years ago. I paid $218 out the door for it, brand new in box from a dealer going out of business.

Since then that gun has digested well over 10k rounds of ammo, some of it very hot .357 stuff.

Recently I've taken to hunting bunnies with it using light .38 spec rounds. I've bounced bunnies out to 90 yards with it (yep, bunny on the run at 90 yards.) and it's a gun that just never ceases to amaze me.

At this point my GP100 wears Hogue rubber Mono-grips and a Bushnell HoloSight. It groups 1" at 15 yards and bounces bowling pins in the desert at 40 yards with stupid consistency.

Fantastic gun.

Sounds nice. Where did you get your HoloSight? I was fondling another Ruger yesterday, I forget what model it was. It had a custom barrel that was 6" or so and it had custom sights. It was designed for shooting plates. The inside of the barrel was absolutely mint.

It was $495...
I have a 6" stainless GP100 I bought about seven years ago, cost $375 then. The trigger was okay but very heavy when new (so heavy that my wife couldn't shoot it double-action), so I had a gunsmith give it a trigger job and it's smooth as silk. Very accurate shooter. She shoots it better than I do now.

I also put a Hogue Monogrip on it, and a laser just for fun. The laser makes for good dry-fire practice, makes it obvious how much you're moving the gun when you pull the trigger.

I bought my Holosight from G&R Tactical. I shopped around at every recommended place and they had the best price, and their service is very fast.

Sweet! Nice Shooting!....I just picked up a 4" stainless at KTP SLIGHTLY used for $375 with Hogue rubber grips on it, if it's had 2 boxes through it I'b be very surprised, I put it on layaway and I'm going back this weekend sometime to pick it up...Where is Renaissance? I've somewhat familiar with the area, is it anywhere near The Ammo Dump in Farmington? (If thats still there)

Renaissance is off of 125 in Gonic. The guys there are really nice and they have been good to me with my trades. KTP irritates me almost every time I am there. They need more people working on the gun floor. The Ammo Dump is still there, but his prices for guns is way too high. Here is a link for Renaissance Firearms:

Darth Ruger, thanks for the link!

Thanks treebeard, too bad about the Ammo Dump, the original owner was a great guy and his prices were always very fair, from what I understand when he passed away his widow sold the business to it's current owner and I've not really been there much since...Next time I'm out that way I'll check out Renaissance...

Same Gun Also

I love this gun- it's my fav. .357/.38 AND I'm a Smith & Wesson diehard fan by nature.

It is too bad, but he does have a real good selection of ammo. If I am ever in a pinch I can go there and pick some up. He seems to have a good selection of reload stuff too.

I love my GP100. I have the 6inch blued. I got it about 2 weeks ago and have put many rounds through it already. I paid 425$ for mine brand spankin new. Ruger doesnt even have the serial# on its site yet.

I love mine so much I am thinking about getting a 6" STS Ruger Speed Six with a customized barrel. It is only $285 and it is about 95% new. I hope it is still at the shop on Monday.

Just got back from the range with my GP and as usual had a great time. I was disposing of some old ammo I had laying around and was just blasting with the GP and my Winchester '94 at 25 yards, in the end you couldn't tell which target was shot with which gun as they were both about the same. For me when a pistol shoots as good as a rifle you've got a keeper.

I have been shooting .38Sp rounds with my GP100 and today I shot a box of Federal .357Magnum rounds. Yikes! I forgot how much recoil a .357 round puts out. I was like Damn! that's some punch baby! I think I will stick to .38Sp for target shooting. :D

Reloading gives you the ability to tailor the loads to your exact recoil preference. I generally keep mine above a .38spl but below a full house Magnum, I do the same with my .44 and happily shoot all day.

I've been neglecting my 4" GP100 lately for my S&Ws. Clearly it's time to spread the love at this weekend's range trip.

Sometimes I wish the GP were svelter, like the Security Six or a Smith K-frame. But sooner or later I pound a box of .357 through my Ruger and then appreciate its strength, accuracy, and recoil-cushioning ability all over again.

As it happens, this GP developed a lovely double action trigger with no gunsmithing. All it took was dryfiring and sending a thousand rounds or so downrange.

That is one thing that I really like about the GP100, the DA trigger. It breaks real nice and I don't jerk the way I do with my autos. Hmmm....perhaps I should get another revolver. I got my eye on a Security Six with a 6" custom barrel. The DA trigger on it is even smoother.
