Sounds good. I can’t vouch for anything but the Schmidt trigger but I had one in a factory lower and liked it so much I replaced the rest of my mil-spec triggers with them.

If you’re trying to label it, then I’m not sure where we’re going here. It’s not a DMR if you’re not a DM on an infantry unit, not a Recce rifle if you’re not on recce. Seems a bit long and heavy for a Recce-ish clone, maybe lacking a little on the optic capability for what I’d pick for a DMR.

Labeling a Midweight 18” with a fixed MOE stock, it seems more like a general purpose consumer rifle, right in the ballpark that I have recommended to new AR buyers for now almost 20yrs. Most people don’t have much use outside of noise making for a mil-spec-ish M4-ish 14.5-16” carbine, whereas an 18-20” rifle with enough heft to self stabilize, but still light and sleek enough to move and carry, free float guard to avoid pulling and pushing shots all over the target, and a decent trigger and optic… that works pretty well for HD, pleasure plinking, non-Elite competition, and hunting… in other words, common casual civilian applications.

I call my 16" PSA w/ Nikon 3-9 scope a DMR, but it stands for Discount Marksman Rifle since all the parts were on sale when I got them. I'm not a big fan of forward grips, though a fixed stock might be good for mine. The clearance Blackhawk! one I have on it wiggles a bit.

Having done the DMR thing with a 4 power ACOG, it will definitely be a limiting factor. Being an older GWOT guy, when I was a designated marksman there weren't a huge amount of high quality scopes that worked well for DMR roles. And when everyone else was running red dot or irons, I was a God among men with my ACOG. Hahaha. Soon after, the ACOG became a very common general issue optic and for that role I think it does really well.

the thing is i have no purpose for this rifle, my 10.3 and 14.5 cover everything HD and my ar10 has hunting covered, so i think as a General Purpose Rifle to hit targets out to 500-700 yards and occasional under 200 yards hunting sounds like a nice place.

Same here. We did manage to scrounge up some M21s with 4.5-14 Leupold MK4s, but a lot of the time, we just carried our M4s with ACOGS.

I set up a rifle very similar to that.

18" "SPR" profile, rifle gas, 1:8, SS barrel, 15" handguard. Very nice, handy rifle.

I used mostly PSA and LaRue parts with A2 furniture (am I the only one that likes A2 stuff?) and topped it with a Vortex 1-6x.

You are not, I recently helped a friend put a 18” with aero/bcm components and he went with A2 stock and quad rail
