I picked this pistol up last night from my FFL. Total cost was ~$350 incl a 10r extra mag I purchased separately(the pistol comes with one). The GSG 1911 is an impressive .22lr pistol. It feels exactly like a full size 1911, a hair lighter but weighed the same. It is very solid and well constructed. Fit and finish is nice, time will tell how tough it is. Sights are adjustable yellow 3 dot. The trigger is sweet :) crisp & light.
Once I get out and shoot it I'll update this post. I have brick of Federal 40g RN HV(the shop was out of CCI Blazer) and some Federal550 bulk-pack 36g HP HV. I plan to break it in on the 40g RN then see how it likes the cheap stuff.

A very good gun

I shot the hell out of this GSG 1911 tonight, 250 of Federal Game-Shock 40g RN HV, 50 of CCI Stinger 36g HP HpV, at least 200 of federal 550 bulk 36g HP HV and a few CCI Mini-Mags the guy next to me used when he tried it out.
Performance was flawless, it kept feeding and firing, feeding and firing....not a thing to report, not even a sticky slide when it was dirty :)
Ergonomics were great, no stress or strain after this long session with gun. At this point I'll say accuracy is average to good....but it was my first time out with it and I was more interested in getting through ammo and drills than pinpointing every shot. The pistol was happy to fire as fast as I could squeeze and was tame as can be.
Really, one of the best running and shooting pistols out of the box that I've owned. I'm not putting a dime more into to it, will be shot and enjoyed "as is". One other thing, the GSG 1911 got lots of attention, just about everyone that saw it was interested in knowing more.....
My only gripe(got to have something, right ;)) is with take down, a small set screw and set pin have to be removed with the slide release and reinstalled to dissemble and assemble the gun. The screw requires an allen wrench(provided). Needless to say its not a quick field strip and care has to be taken not to loose the little screw or pin.

I want one. Anyone know if it be had with a flat MSH, or if a standard MSH will fit?

The main spring housing is interchangeable with a standard 1911 msh....so if you want flat you can change it(someone over at RFC already did.)

btw: I didn't mention that the barrel is factory threaded and capped ;)

Not to be a pest, but are the receiver internals the same as a 1911? I'm wondering if I can get a trigger job to match my 1911s. Will it accept other brand mags? Thanks.

very pesty ...;)
Word is the GSG 1911 is about 75% interchangeable with a standard 1911. I'm sure the trigger group is part of that 75%. The mags are proprietary to this gun.

I have yet to break mine in. Do let us know if you find any ammo it dislikes.

And to Lone Haranguer - it's not much more than a Chiappa. Mine was $350 + tax. The Chiappa at a different store was $290 + tax.

From your pics I can see it was made in Germany. That being said I wonder if it holds the same markings on the chamber as the Walther P22 and Sig Mosquito? I cant see that in your pics. Also a MUCH better looking pistola than the Chiappa!! Are the mags metal or polymer?

Nevermind one of my questions. I can see the DE and 3 markings after it on the reciever, and are the same as the Walther and Sig. No problem there though I own one of each of those and both work just fine.

The mag base and follower are poly with the remainder metal.
Its a very beefy mag., at another forum someone complained that when he released the mag to the ground it broke the poly base from its own weight.....I could see that happening, so its something to be careful of.

I saw the gun being shot by a fellow club member. I believe the mags are made of a cast zinc alloy. The guns feels to light to be ade of steel. I would assume that the frame and slide are either aluminum or a zinc alloy. I shot the gun, the trigger is not ideal but for a bit over $300 it functioned reliably with SV ammo. I did not have the opportunity to conduct any accuracy testing.
