Sig Mosquitos.....

Glad your pistol works for you, I have two friends that have them and both are jamming pieces of poop. Sig must have got the spring rate right finally, cause both these pistols were sprung heavy and the slides looked like they were in slo-mo. Accuracy on both were very good! Enjoy your new Sig, looks like you got a good one!:)

The Mozzie comes with 2 recoil springs. Heavy & light. Supposedly it comes with the light one installed, but you never know. From all reports I've read the light spring is the only one that will work.

My wife loves her Mozzie. It's pretty much 100% with MiniMags and maybe 95% with cheap Remington bulk. Federal bulk makes it a single shot.

Genuine SIG METAL mags are a must as is regular cleaning & oiling. Hers gets cleaned & lubed after every range session. Also check the screw that holds the barrel on. Hers backed off once. Since tightening it hasn't repeated. That little hole at the right rear of the slide is for oil, too.

We'll just go ahead & ignore a certain obvious troll.

Oh yes. Almost forgot... The wife's Mozzie. ;)

I'm glad your trip turned out good. remember the little oil hole on the slide, apply a few drops every 300-400 rounds and you will do fine.

I know this is a big forum with all types and I usually do brush off the bs commentary
Yup...I also bought a Mosquito for the same reasons you did. While doing my research, the usual suspects kept repeating it was junk, but after sorting through most of the testosterone addled posts, research indicated the new models were better than the first ones out. Heck-half (or more) of the folks complaining didn't even know it had different springs, and mine recommended you break it in with Mini-mags, which I guess also escaped some folks. Those that broke it in as SIG recommended reported much better luck than those that started off with bulk ammo.
I guess no one reads the instructions these days?

I realize it was built to a price point-I would have preferred something besides the zinc slide, but as long as it works...

fishslayer,
Hope the troll comment wasn't dirrected to me, I just call em like I see em. Both examples I shot had the light spring in it, and was shooting minimag ammo. I cut a few coils from the light spring, and it started shooting the rem bulk ammo, yet still didn't shoot the minimags without running the slide by hand. I tell ya, it was a real treat to get through a mag without hand cycling the gun at least once!

JD, I'm sure the comment was about post back on pg1 and nothing to do with you.....Opinions and experiences good or bad are welcome, but this particular post just bugged me.

The last ( or maybe next to last-forget) last rimfire match I used a Sig Skeeter with no problems. (in a thigh rig no less) I also used a AR platform. No pictures where taken but the threat was present. *grin*

Now this Skeeter belonged to a friend of mine whom is a FFL, a Cowboy action shooter and gunsmith in his own right.

He shoots cowboy, modern and tactical at these matches, I usually shoot modern with a Ruger MKII and Marlin 60. In fact we have gone head-to-head against each other and while our "tie breaker" targets busted at the same time, the timer said he beat me by a hundredth of a second.
Software, not hardware...

My experiences have shown some had problems with Skeeters and first off it was attributed to Remington ammo. Next up, after using good ammo, was the gun needed to be broken in, cleaned, and lubed properly.

Would I personally own one? Depends.
I am old school and my trigger time back in the old days was with Colt Woodsmans and High Standards, then the Ruger MKI, and then MKII. I have some trigger times with the Brownings.

Just me, but I seem to shoot more accurately and faster with Ruger MKIIs.

Find what fits you, take care of any breaking in, maintain and lube properly and use the correct ammo, and the gun will do what it is supposed to do, every time, is my take on the matter.

Sending best-

Steve

Someday I might go a little crazy and buy a Beretta 87 Cheetah. I hear it's a reliable full sized .22.

I love everything about my Bobcat but it's just not reliable.

Fishslayer, where did you buy the nice wood grips?

http://www.grips4u.net/index.php?cPath=42_100

Looks like the price has gone up a bit. Shipping was quick and the grips bolted right on. Very happy with them. So is the wife, which is always good. :D

Alls good, just confused on being quoted.

Oops. Rereading my own post I see how that might have been misconstrued. Sorry. :(
