I'll be traveling to both Charlotte and Boone, NC soon. I would really appreciate recommendations for good gun and pawn shops in and around either town. I'm not looking for anything in particular, but I am a sucker for S&W and Ruger revolvers, and I am in the market for an M1 Garand or M-1 Carbine. If you can provide an address and/or phone #, that would be even better.

Thanks all!

Only a few pawn shops left in Charlotte that deal in firearms; Bill's on Central and Beltway on 74E are the two that I check our in a regular basis. As for the gunshops there is Hyatts on Wilkinson, Carolina Sporting Arms on South, Firepower off of Monroe (my personal favorite), a small shop in Pineville, and Eagle Rock in Harrisburg. If you have the time to go through Concord or Gastonia you'll come across a lot more of pawn type dealers.

There is also classic arms if they are still open to the public near Indian Trail in Charlotte if memory serves me. Also a good pawn shop in Shelby, American Tactical and Pawn. I was just in there and they had a good selection of ERB's at descent prices. Boone is a pretty liberal town, lived there for about 12 years, no "good" gun shops there unless something has changed. Used to be a shop in Linville, but he was always pretty high with his prices. Again, its been a while, so good luck, report back what you find!

jad0110, You have to come to burnsville NC. Above asheville about 30 min. but we have in our little country town one of the best gunshops/general stores you will find . This guy keeps 100's of guns on hand at all times. Look up Price's creek general store on the west side of Burnsville He will not have any m-1's but will cover from mp15 for 799 to the 500/460s&w's and all others inbetween.

I've heard good stuff about Price's creek, but never made it there myself. There are also a couple good shops the other side of Boone, in North Wilkesboro. The best one is out in the country, could take you to it, but can't remember the name. If you go check the phone book, there were only a few in that town.
