1 qt. Mobil 1 synthetic : 0,5,10W- 30W, do not use a heavier than W30 - ONLY (Mobil one: NO other synthetic.) **no ester based synthetic**
1 pt. Marvel Mystery Oil
1pt. STP
1 pt. ATF ( they prefer FMC synthetic or Mobil synthetic)
Mix well and store - you get enough to last a large group a very long time.
Just reviewing this recipe and I can certainly understand why it won't wash off easily. It's got one high film strength oil product, one oil film thickening product and two high detergent oils. No solvent action at all.
Wiping it off to remove the fouling with the excess would be hellish. But it would certainly form a protective barrier.
Personally I like the "Ed's Red" better as it works far better as a flushing action cleaner. With that Marine Frog Snot recipe "flush" becomes more of an "ooze" situation.
Now if that MFS combo was used to replace the "simple" ATF portion in the Ed's Red I suspect we'd have the best of both sides. A very liquid flushing cleaner combined with a strong film strength tenacious protecting oil film left behind once the solvents evaporate.
