Gun Companies to avoid.

I think this thread shows the truth of what someone said early on...every gun comany has some nasty pieces in the closet...and, ironically, there are some people who absolutely love those clunkers!

I also want to throw a big ole thumbs up to Px15. I think the various Star Model Bs are great little guns at a throwaway price. I also like the Super Stars in 9mm Largo...I've shot a nunch of 'em and usually have one lying around. The absoldute best value in a surplus gun, though, are the aluminum-framed P1s, the post-war versions of the venerable German P-38s. IMHO, they are some of the finest, best-shooting 9mms ever made. My everyday carry gun is a SIGARMS P225 (which carried the German police designation of "P6;" I think of it as the modern evolution of the P1).

I'm going to do an episode on the P1 on my new Internet television "network," DOWN RANGE TELEVISION (downrange.tv), which will FINALLY go live later this afternoon...I have no money left, but I have an "Internet platform" of my very own!

RGI, or RG Industries.

I've got one of their .22 revolvers. It seems like cheap junk, extraction is a PITA. Other than that, it goes bang, so not all bad.

I've been considering one of their rifle kits. Do you have personal bad experience with them you might care to share?
Thanks,
Bruce
Visit falfiles.com and see what the guys have to tell you about Hesse / Vulcan - your hair will curl.

Gun makers I'm not fond of..

Kahr Kel-Tec Hipoint Jennings Star Ivey-Johnson Rossi Astra Charter Arms

I may think of some more later on.

How about a Stainless Steel Colt King Cobra in .357 Magunm for $300. That's right, it is good to have son-in-laws in pawnshops.:neener:

Quote: Don't buy any 5" N-frame S&W revolver made from 1946 to 1982.
Don't buy any Colt D-frame revolvers: Diamondback, Cobra or Viper.

Save all of these guns for me.

Really? I heard a lot of good things about them.
If you're having a problem with one of our guns or just want to talk guns you can always call me at my private cell phone number 24-7.

If I'm napping or the phone is on the charger I'll call you back. There's really no bad time to call. I'm often awake in the middle of the night.

My cell phone number is 203 606-0688.

I apologize for those times I don't answer the cell phone because it's on the charger or I'm sleeping. If you are like KQ, you might consider those sleep or charger times examples of bad customer service. :)

Regards,
Larry

I'm going to have to go 50/50 on S&W.

I have one of the "Enhanced" Sigmas in .40 and I had problems with it. When I dealt with their customer service people, they were friendly and gave me no grief. The down side was that when the gun came back, it shot 42 times and began failures to fire again. Sent it back, they replaced the wrong parts (i.e. perfectly good parts with no ties to the mis-fire problem). I've yet to shot it since I got it back this time (several months ago), but I need to. Maybe it will work, maybe not... we'll see.

50% good customer service (my dealings)
50% bad repairs (x2)

On the otherhand, my JM625 has worked like a dream. Never a hiccup.

Seecamp. It's the Eddie Bauer Edition Jennings of firearms.

I know that Kevin seems to have had a bad experience with his so I am not going to try to change his mind. But I have had two Seecamps and both worked very well for me. The main problem I see is that they are small (duh! They are made for deep concealment!) and can be hard to shoot for some people. My dealer (Personal Defense Specialist in South Hadley) sells every one he can get his hands on pretty quickly. I think one guy had a problem but IIRC Larry fixed it for him.

It's like every gun, you are best advised to try one before you buy one to see if it's good for you.

I also agree what some others have said, avoid Vulcan, bought one of their HK clones and it was a horror show. Worst gun purchase I ever made.
