My Buddy just moved to Kansas City ( Olathe area). Can anyone advise on reputable gun dealers there?

Olathe Guns. The bullet hole. Cabelas. In MO you have Great guns in Liberty, and Show me Shooters in claycomo. Snap Shots in NKC is not one of my favorites, customer service misses them.

Some of my faves, and others

First off, it's Olathe, pronounced "Oh-LAY-thuh".

Yup, there's the Olathe Gun Shop, not my personal favorite but worth checking out. And you might want to check out Express Police Supply, on Strang Line Rd. north of 119th St; I was there just a few days ago and they had quite a few used guns, at what seem like reasonable prices.

Also, there's a Bass Pro Shop in Olathe.

And there's The Bullet Hole, not that far north of Olathe. It's a pretty good gunshop and range (if nobody happens to be committing suicide there that day. 'Sorry, that's a little gallows humor based on unfortunate recent history at The Bullet Hole). At The Bullet Hole you'll find a pretty extensive handgun selection, including Sig, Ruger, Colt, Springfield XD, sometimes even CZ and Dan Wesson.

Gunsmithing Only, in downtown Mission, often has some interesting used guns. But they're open only a couple of days a week: http://www.gunsmithingonly.com/

Unlike a previous poster, I like SnapShots, north of the river in Missouri (a good ways from Olathe, but in the KC Metro almost anyplace is 20 min. away). Bear in mind that a Kansas resident can't take delivery of a handgun in Missouri, but if you buy one at SnapShots they can usually arrange for you to pick it up at The Bullet Hole the next day. You can walk from SnapShots to Almar Uniform, which also carries holsters (mostly duty gear).

If you're up north checking out SnapShots and you like surplus stores, there's a neat little one a dozen or so blocks north, Bossert's. Otherwise, the best surplus store in the metro is Mickey's, on Strong Ave. in the Argentine District of KCK (5 min. north of I-35 on the 18th St. Expy). Mickey's has lots of fabric holsters and cases.

And of course there's Cabela's, on the western end of Wyandotte County, KS, right near the NASCAR track.

Also, there are pretty frequent gunshows in the KC area.

Thanks for the response & I stand corrected on the spelling. I'll be heading over there next weekend, look forward to checking them out.
