Some combinations of cartridge and gun are so successful that they can be considered as marriages made in heaven. I nominate the following two couples for marriages made in heaven:

.38 special****S&W Military & Police/Model 10

.45 ACP****Colt 1911

WHAT ABOUT THE 9mm?

At first I was going to suggest the Browning Hi-Power.

But I've decided instead to nominate the following:

9mm****Glock Model 19

I don't own a Glock, and I've only tried one a few times. I'm kind of neutral in my feeling towards them. Maybe we have to wait for the 50th anniversary to know for sure how successful the Nine and Glock are as a couple.

Any other suggestions or couples to add to the list?

Bill

Apparently, polygamy is allowed in this alternate universe, because to me, the 9mm and Hi-Power is a perfect match.

And I know we're talking handguns here, but the 30-30 and the lever-action rifle (either Winchester or Marlin, though I prefer Marlins) is another such combination.

9mm and the S&W 39

357 Magnum and the S&W 19

44 Magnum and the S&W 29

45 ACP and the 1911

10mm and just about anything!

I would like to nominate five from the world
reknowned SIG-SAUER class of fine firearms:

1. .45 caliber P220A

2. 9m/m P228

3. 9m/m P226

4. 9m/m P225

5. .380 ACP P230/P232

All belong to the "Classic P-series" of firearms!

Best Wishes,

9mm and the HK P7.

The 9mm is the perfect round for the gas-retarded blowback action. Look what happened when HK tried to come out with a 40S&W: huge heavy slide. And the 380 verison of the P7 was not a whole lot smaller than the 9mm.

The 9mm was just right for the P7.

No, I'm afraid you're all wrong on the 9mm. What could it possibly be associated with other than the gun for which it was developed - the Luger?

Shame on you for dragging all those late-comers into the picture! :neener:

Sorry guys, the only 9mm "match made in heaven" was the German Luger. All these others are just cheap affairs and one night stands.

Do you hear about the 9mm Sig or the 9mm Glock, there's a reason it's called the 9mm Luger!

9x19mm and BHP
.45 and SIG P220
.44 and S&W 29
.38 spl and S&W 10
.380 and Walther PPK
9x18 and Makarov
7.62x39 and AK
30-06 and Garand

Um .32 and the 1903 Pocket Colt .32?

Every other MFG seems to complain about rim-lock, the Colt never had that problem.

Here we go, anothe D@mn request to have a 10mm added to the Sig lineup;

I'll take a P226S and (get ready) a P239S in 10mm!!!!

Huh? Whaddaya think of them choices?!

Colt SAA -.45 colt
Sig 2340 -357SIG
SIG 228 and H&K P7 -9mm. Kinky 3-way.
M57 -.41 magnum
1911 and *gasp* 10mm
Just had to make JMB roll over in his grave with that one.

As for the Luger, wasn't it designed for .30 luger?
