Gun oil/lube that does not smell

Powdered graphite works ... in some applications, as a ''dry'' lube but IMO not very good persistence - but ... well, some of the odors are sorta ...... part of the deal! I mean, a ''fix'' from Hoppes #9 (toxic tho it is!) .... and the whiff of CLP .... etc ... part of the whole picture!

I'll stick with the smelly ones!!

Totally odorless?

I don't know of any other than the powdered graphite mentioned. If you mean more subltle, and/or more pleasantly scented that Hoppe's, there's several. Eezox, Ballistol, Break-Free, FP-10...

MPC's FP-10 smells like cinnamon. The nicest smelling gun lube I've found by far. Fortunately, it also works great.

Hoppe's OIL

Hoppe's OIL has practically no odor at all. I love the smell of FP10, and especially G96, but I have gotten to where I can't tolerate the fumes.

FP-10

I asked George F. in a post on 199forum.com "why cinnamon?"

His answer included bits about it being common and fragrant, but also said that the aroma was chosen so as not to be offensive to animals.

After cleaning my guns with FP-10, my cats were actually MORE attracted to them than I'd ever seen them before. Very inquisitive and sniffy.

Go figure.
