So I was on this site a few months ago and have still not made up my mind until now.

I was debating between either a Ft Knox Guardian 6031 with deluxe package + 10 guage inner liner. Total cost at Safeandvaultstore.com was $4,500

I just found that the AMSEC BF 6030 now offers a 4 gauge inner liner. Total cost after options is $3,000.

Couple questions....
1)would anyone hesitate on the AMSEC BF 6030 at this price point and with the liner?

2) Has anyone done business with SafeAndVaultStore.com. Seems legit based on youtube videos, BBB, and other websites, just wanted to get thoughts

3) Anything else I should know?

Buy locally. If you can't buy locally, buy from a professional. Don't buy online based on price.

In that price range, you're also not far off from being able to afford a real burglary rated safe, if that is an option for you. It will give you much better protection from both burglary and fire.

While I would love to buy locally, it is very hard for me to justify the price increase of the same item.

On the BF6030, I'd be looking a an extra $1,300 (43% more).

On the Guardian, I'd be looking at close to $1,400 more locally (31% more).

As far as safe size, I have to stick with these safes as they are the only ones that will fit in the desired location. I can't go much bigger/heavier, or I would.

I am not implying that Fort Knox doesn't make a nice gun safe but ... the Amsec BF with the 4ga inner liner is a much better gun safe for much less money. With the upgraded BF you will get a gun safe with a proven low density concrete that is specialized towards fire protection plus a 1/2" steel plate door and now over a 1/4" of steel lining the body.

I looked into Sportsman... I feel the company does not have good reputations and there are tons of reviews out there that say that they have poor customer service and owners of Sportsman safes would not buy from them again.

Does anyone have any dealings with SafeAndVaultStore.com?

Can't help other than to say I took a1abdj's advice and found a used TLTR-30x6 locally that I had a safe technician check out for me before buying; after moving and setting up it cost me right at $2000. It does weigh 4200 lbs, so that can be an issue.

I dont think I could get that down my steps. I have typically basement wooden steps and feel it would cost just as much as the safe to get down the steps.

Yeah, I think you're right. If it could even be brought down the stairs the cribbing and reinforcement that would have to be done would almost certainly cost more than the safe itself.

I agree Hawkins1, I built new basements stairs just to get a 1000Lbs gun safe down to the basement floor so I couldn't imagine what would be needed to get a 4000Lbs safe down (i.e., including adding weight for: equipment, people, live load etc.) Building the stairs certainly could be done but for a residential environment is a 4000Lbs safe really needed and worth all the extra expense and effort?

I owned two ft knox safes, and their quality is awesome... BUT, for the money, you can buy real safes with real amounts of steel and rating meant to protect your valuables...

The paint job is nice, the gold leaf is impressive, and the reputation is top notch... but why pay for all that when its not going to protect a damm thing. 10g steel is a joke, even a 4g liner isn't going to slow down most people with a sawzall... move up to a safe that has some decent amounts of steel or a composit sadwich and you will have a safe that offers 10x the amount of protection for the same money.

I would definitely go for the AMSEC BF with the 4 gauge liner, but I would buy from a local dealer who will deliver, install, and bolt it down. You may need it serviced and/or moved in the future and you need a professional for these things. A local dealer should be able to come close in price.
